Hi Erin,
Yes, steroids cause osteoporosis and although a high calcium diet is strongly recommended, it is advisable to monitor bone density, I had my first check (as a reference) at the beginning 14 months ago and I will have the second one next January.
Be carefull with biphosphonate supplements frequently prescribed as they are reported to cause jaw bone necrosis…Dentists should be informed of their intake!
