Hey Barbara! I have never been to an MD clinic but am sending a lot of thoughts and prayers your way!
I bet Annie, Becky, Missy or Brennan will be on shortly to help! Big hugs! Erin ![]()

So sorry. I went to the MD offices here for a "consult" years and years ago, but that's really all it was. I am supposed to be going for another, if they ever call and schedule it!!!!
I guess I'll need you to tell me how it goes for you. Good luck. I hope it's helpful to you!

There's really nothing different about an MDA clinic! It's your regular doctor's office. They may have one day a week where they have "free" appointments. They may have a representative from the MDA who is there to see if you want to sign up with them or get more information.
My neuro is an MDA Director. All that really means is that he is an expert at certain MDA diseases. He is an MG expert. He does a "group" meeting for people with MG too. So really there's not a lot of differences in an MDA clinic. Hopefully they will know more about MG and treat you better!!!! Annie |

My first MD clinic appointment was at LEAST 3 hours long.
I had 11 vials of blood drawn. Also, a CT scan and a single fiber EMG. I don't know if that's typical or not. The neuro took my complete medical history and my primary had sent a copy of my file for the neuro to look at prior to my appointment. My diagnosis was confirmed at that appointment and plan was put into place for my treatment. Best of luck, Jenna |

MDA has 220 clinics in the US. I've been referred to them by my neuro and will be seen at their clinic (if they ever get it scheduled) for tests and eval for other suggestions about my second condition. In Denver, neuros often refer clients to the MDA clinic located here for help with "messy" symptoms like mine, or to confirm a dx, or for more specialized testing. Unless you apply to be treated and followed by one of the MDA clinic docs here, you have to have a referral from a neuro to see them. There is more information on the MDA.org website for anyone interested. Just an FYI. Hope you're doing ok. Hugs to you.

Barbara, How did it go? I hope it went well.
Becky, I've been to two MDA "clinics" and they really are not all mystical and magical! The may appear that way to kids, however. They are just regular clinics with doctors who hopefully know more about neuromuscular diseases than other neuros. ![]() |

I know the consult I went to the clinic for was a total waste of time, but again (especially after reading this) I think it was set up by my neuro at the time (the one I'll call dr. I from now on - I for Idiot) to be that way.
I FINALLY got a call from the MDA clinic today, but not to actually schedule me - just to let me know they lost both my faxed referrals somehow, so they were gonna contact my neuro and babysit it through this time. They should "call to schedule within a couple of days, hopefully". But it looks like the appointment won't be until the end of MAY! They better be hot stuff after this kind of a wait - if it's just same ol same ol and they don't come up with anything, I don't know how well I'll be able to hold my tongue. Don't these people know we have jobs we're trying to hold on to? My boss is real patient, but dang! Sorry 'bout the rant. I crashed pretty good for a while today, so I'm not at all a happy camper! I know you can identify with that, Annie, as I'm sure everyone else can, too. I'll be good now, promise ![]() Becky Quote:
