My feet and ankles just ache when I stand up and go to walk around after sitting for awhile or just getting out of bed in the morning. I have aching pain in my knee also and that is just at night. My neuro sent me to an arthritis specialist because my Sed Rate and CRP (C-Reactive Protein) were elevated. These are tests that are for inflammation/cancer. I don't have the pain while I'm sitting, but after going all day and then sitting down to watch tv for awhile and getting back up, my whole body is stiff. I drink plenty of water thru the day (8-8oz glasses),so I don't think I'm dehydrated. I have to go back to the arthritis specialist next Friday to find out my blood test results and I'll tell them about my stiffness and aches and see what they think. Thanks for the great info and support. You guys are the best!!!

Pat, I did the registration when I first signed on the site last week and it's still making me a visitor, so I don't know what's going on.

Peripheral Neuropathy can be from metabolic causes.
Low thyroid (this is what I had) or prediabetes (when you still have normal fasting glucose, but are prone to low readings during the day) can begin the process of diabetic neuropathy. You can visit our forum here, and read and search some topics. There are supplements that help people with certain types of neuropathy. B12 is the first to investigate. But with the new research out there, mitochondrial damage is becoming a more discussed trigger. Some drugs damage the mitochondria and lead to PN. One common group is the fluoroquinolones like Cipro and Levaquin and Avelox. You wouldn't think of it...taking them for a bladder infection or bronchitis, but PN may be down the road for those patients. Also the statins used for lowering cholesterol, and some other drugs are causers. Acetyl carnitine is often used for drug/toxin induced PN. Here is the link to our PN forum: http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum20.html There are some foot disorders that cause pain too. Plantar fasciatis, neuromas, arthritis, and damaged sesamoid bones cause alot of grief. So a visit to a good podiatrist may reveal a reason. Having weakness in the legs may change your gait, and put pressure on the feet...a podiatrist may be able to help with this.
