Unhappy wavedreamer1

Hey. My name is Sandra and I am a 53 year old female. I have had 4 major spinal surgreys and 3 implanted pain pumps. Now my body is rejecting the medication in my pump (prialt) it is venom for a sea snail. They say since my body is rejecting I have somethign called a brain over dose. I hear music, people talking, shadow man, severe headaches. and I have the rushes to my head, like someone had just given me a powerful shot and I have a head rush. I have a nerve from my 3rd surgery. It is at the end of my spine and it was caused by waiting to long to have surgery and the nerve was pinched but did not rejuvenate. I need to know if ther is anyone that is having nerve damage and if you have found a doctor that can fix it. I am so tired of pain, no sleep, the spasms are so bad. All I can do is scream until it is over. It feels like the muscles wraps around my shin bone and I have 3 new bruses just from last night. I am not sleeping tonight because I can not take the pain it I don't get still. I feel a little better, the minute I lay down. all Hell breaks loose. Please let me know. Maybe we can answer each others questions. **

Welcome to NeuroTalk Wavedreamer.

I hope you'll get some pain relief soon. It sounds like you've been through a lot. You need your sleep... can you get a really thick and soft mattress pad to help you get more comfortable?

There are lots of nice people here and I'm hoping you'll get some good tips to help you deal with your pain. Take care.

Hi Sandra and welcome to NT!

Nerve pain really is unbelievably awful. Mine was caused from injuries sustained in a serious car accident. Despite an ocean of pain meds, I can still find myself screaming in the middle of the grocery store. I haven't slept longer than a couple of hours at a time in over two years.

Have you tried alternative medicine? I find accupuncture can calm things down for brief stretches. Even ten minutes when I'm not in constant spasm is like heaven.

I don't have experience with spinal surgery, but many at NT do. Here are a couple of links that might help you navigate the forum:

Cheers and hang in there

Hi Sandra, I'm so sorry you are having a hard time. Trusting a doc to do the right thing is not easy. I had my fifth spine surgery a year ago and the pain that had be killing my legs is mostly gone. I am regaining more use of my left legs.

So what is your doc going to do to help you manage your pain? I would recommend a doc to you but you would have to travel to Utah...

I'm here if you ever need to talk...just pm me...Tammy

Hey. The doctor is giving me something by mouth and he gave me something for sleep. So we will see how that goes. My husband has promised me if I made a sound while sleeping like I am in pain or trying to say something WAKE ME UP ASAP. Last night I was attacked by my NOT THERE SHADOW MAN!!! I am not crazy. The medication what has overdosed my brain is really playing tricks. He said that since he has stopped the medication in pump, except what is left in my cather. Everything SHOULD get back to normal. What is normal when the pain in increasing every day. Well, One day at a time. Thanks. Sandra
