Default CRPS/RSD Sucks

Hi,
I am new to the forums. I have been diagnosed with CRPS/RSD, (as best they can), since November of 09. I have been going to PT ever since, I have done the Lumbar Sympathetic blocks, with no relief. Now the doctors are talking about a Dorsal Nuero Stimulator. Nothing seems to work.
It seems to be getting worse regardless of how much I am fighting this.
I am even going to the gym 3 to 5 times a week for 3 to 4 hours a day as suggested by my doctor to keep everything moving. I pay for it big time after a good work out. And sometimes I have to stop right in the middle of a workout and just leave.

I had 2 Heart Attacks and open heart surgery, which is how they think this was triggered. I also have the beginning stages of Liver Disease from all the heart meds I have been on.

At this point, I don't even have pain meds to help with the constant pain.
Any suggestions for me to try, that may help reduce the pain and swelling.

I am ready to try just about anything.
I am also trying to not show how much pain I am in to my 4 kids and wife.
After time, it just feels like I am a constant complainer.
So far this is worse than the Heart Attacks and Open Heart Surgery combined.

Please offer any suggestions that seemed to have helped you.

Thank you.

3- 4 hrs a day for the work outs?
What kind of work outs are you doing?

To me it sounds like too much unless you are training for something.

if it is a relaxing pace of treadmill, swimming,, stretches and some light weights that is one thing,, but if you are doing heavy duty weights/workout it just might be overkill for what you are aiming for...

I would work toward -
General whole body fluidity, posture, stability, core, and some weights as comfortable for you.

Welcome to NT

So sorry you're in so much pain and distress. It isn't easy, I know.

I don't have CRPS/RSD but I know a few who do. It's very disabling.

I have TOS, scalene and pec involvement, herniated and bulging discs and some related diagnoses.

over the past 10 years I've tried lots of things. I have used a TheraCane for muscle spasms http://www.google.com/search?source=...s1g6g-s1g1&oq= . I use oversized tennis balls and a Miracle Ball Method http://www.amazon.com/dp/0761128689/...l_48aamwedzp_b for muscle spasms and trigger points.

I swear by LED and infrared light pads. They have helped me tremendously. I can sell those if you're interested. Here's my upline to read about them. http://www.healthlightz.com/ Feel free to ask me more if you're interested.

I also found a nautropathic healer who had lots of different methods for treatments. massages, oils, soaks, etc.

I found yoga to be more appropriate for my painful conditions, and was struggling in the beginners class. I don't do yoga right now because we don't have class here. I use some of the techniques I learned, though. Relaxation and breathing techniques helps. I found these to be most helpful. (see attachment) .

My therapist/friend got me a twist board for Xmas. It's low impact and I love it. I can button pants I haven't been able to button in years. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&r...&aqi=&aql=&oq=

I have also placed a long dressing mirror at the side of my workstation. This is a "posture police" and you would be surprised how many times you'll catch yourself slumpted over or head forward.

and another thing that's just good for everything... INHALE WATER. Drink as much as you can.

I hope you find some relief.

We're here for you.

Default So Sorry

Life can sure be an uphill climb huh! I'm so sorry to see what you are facing. So many of us can certainly relate and you will find much support here.
The RSD/CRPS forum is very active, you will find many caring folks there.
Also, you made mention of the Dorsal Column Stimulator.
A new thread for SCS has been created. Here is the direct link

http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum118.html

I recently had mine implanted and it's really helping the lower extremity pain. I encourage you to jump over to the SCS section and post a new thread and you'll get other's input. The good thing about the stimulator's is you can do the trial first to see if it'll help before making a commitment to the invasive procedure

God Bless
