Default Fibromyalgia and Essential Tremors link ?

Hello from (very hot) South Georgia. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia back in 1997. I have learned to successfully manage the disease with a balance of healthy nutrition/ stress management and medical intervention. Yesterday, I was officially diagnosed with Essential Tremors. I'm wondering... does anyone have any experience with both of these ailments? Is there a known connection?

Cool Welcome, Clarabelle Cow! It's pretty hot everywhere....

Congratulations on managing the fibromyalgia so well! That's quite an accomplishment. And now Essentials Tremors. Wow.

I think the Movement Disorders Forum will put you in touch with people familiar with that:
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum65.html

Introduce yourself there, ask questions (e.g., any connection with fibromyalgia?), look around.

If you don't find answers there--or if you like a 2-pronged approach--try the Fibromyalgia Forum:
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum12.html

Same deal: intro/ask/explore.

Keep coming back. Keep asking questions. Let us know how you're doing--with your diagnosis, treatment plan, especially how you're feeling about it all.

This is a big place with info, social hangouts, all sorts of stuff I'm still discovering. Hope you find it as welcoming, informing, & comforting as I do.

Hello and welcome. I am a newbie too! I have lived with Fibro since 2001 and I can NOT get it under control! The Lyrica seems to help somewhat but not entirely. I need info on how to manage the Fibro along with the leg muscle spasms and C-Spine pain. If you can help at all please reply. I can also share with you the things I do to help with all this pain. Sincerely Steph

Welcome. I am about one week from joining. Everyone here are great supporters and vast knowledge. I can partner with you on the firbomylagia. I was diagnosed two years ago. Tried therapy and several kinds of medication. I have limited sucess. I take Tramodol CR twice per day. I was on straight Tramodol 4 times daily, but was having some relief but it did not sustain me until the next dose. So he stared me on the extended rlease form and do not have as many "highs and lows". People do not always understand our pain and how tuff it can be. I find that my worse days are when we have hot weather mixed with high humidity. I have been in critical condition several times for my heart and honestly felt I would not pull through. But I did- God has a purpose for me- not sure what- but maybe just to reach out to others who are also having a diificult time. Hang in there. I wish you more good days tha bad

Welcome to you all newbies

I'm Donna, and a old person. I'm a fibromyalgia person. Also have some
other disorders. You will find me in the fibro room. And the PCS room.

Its something that I have lots of symptoms, that we are in both rooms

I also spend lots of time in the Bi-Polar room. There are many in there
that are friendly.

But I am on gabapentin, and I take magnesium also. The magnesium
really helps with the pain. I also take a Methocarbamol 750 mg.

As it is it works lots better than the original one I was on. I found this
one thanks to a doc when I was in a car accident in March.

Its one of the very much older drugs from what they say. My pain doctor
couldn;t believe it was helping so well.

Donna

my doctor diagnosed me with fibro. I don't believe I have it all and that I have a brain injury that cannot be detected, like most, on mri.
I don't spend any time in fibro room,
