Confused New here and looking for information..

I am here because my significant other (of 16 years) was diagnosed with RSD/CRPS about 6 years ago. I love him so much, but he has been so unbearable the last few months and I don't know what to do. He used to treat me so well, but lately he is depressed and just plain mean. He has good days and bad days, but more bad days recently. He doesn't want to do anything with me and just wants to sit in the house and watch TV when he's not working. I am very outspoken, but lately I walk on eggshells not wanting to upset him. I can't live like this. I don't know if this could be part of his RSD or if it is something else. I don't want to give up on 16 years, but I don't know what to do. He doesn't take any meds and hasn't in over 2 years.. Any advice would be appreciated, as I don't know where else to turn. Thank you.

Default Hello steelrgrl

I am glad you found this site, and I hope others will also respond to you. Being a caregiver of someone is the most difficult job there is. It is the illness that makes a person behave so badly. He doesn't mean it. If he could just go in for some help, there would be a better outcome. don't give up on 16 years. Just try to get some help for both your self and for your mate. Being in that bad state of mind hurts everyone. If he won't go for help, then take it upon yourself to seek care for your own soul and peace of mind. You need some comfort for yourself. I nursed both my parents through their deaths and know how difficut caring for someone can be. I wish you all the best, please do keep in touch. There are compassionate people here who will do their best to make you feel welcome and comfortable. Be good to yourself and try to get some help. ginnie

Default Hang in there!!

Hi,
Well I know it must be so hard for you and for him. At the end of the day he needs to go for help.
I know that I am not an expert but I think he has to understand that this isn't just about him and that it's affecting you too.
He has choices and although you have been together for 16 years, that doesn't mean that you should be treated badly for the next 20.
If there is any way that you can get him to the doctor and also for hopefully some counseling, I think that would benefit you both.
I really wish you good luck and we are all here to support you in whatever you do.
Michelle

Welcome to NT!
This is a great place to get support and understanding.
I'm so sorry about what this is doing to your relationship. It's wonderful of you to seek out help on his behalf....shows how much you truly care.

You might be able to get some good pointers on the RSD/CRPS forum. Lots of folks willing to help. Here's the link to get you there:
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/fo...sprune=-1&f=21

This type of pain can sure bring out the worst sometimes.
His heart might open a bit if he knew that he certainly is not alone in his battle.
I pray that things begin to turn around...

Truly Caring,
Rae
