Default Having temp implant of Stimulator on Nov 1

Just found site tonight and was a blessing to see all of the availiable info. I have suffered with debilitating pain in my lower left side for the past 10 years now. Only relief is to go to emergency room for shot and be out for 2 days at a time. Pain clinic just says come back in two months and we will try and research your problem. Where have I heard that before? I am scheduled for temp inplant of Medtronic Stimulator on Nov 1. (just rec'd authorization yesterday) Getting worried since i see a lot of people saying go with the Boston Scientific. Have been away from work since 8 June 2011 and don't see myself going back to my 32 year career at this time. Have to make decisions fast.

Thumbs up Decisions Take Time

Hi PW, you write about having to make decisions fast...... maybe not so. If you read much of my blog thread, you know I had expected St Judes, a product similar in approach to the Boston Scientific model. I had researched the heck out of St Judes, made my decision to go forward, and THEN on the day I showed up for the Trial Implant, a fella smillilng real big from Boston Scientific came in the prep room and introduced himself.

I said "Whoa, wait a minute, I was supposed to get St Judes."

He offered to get with my surgeon and talk it over, but if I had refused to go Boston Sci at that moment the mission would have been scrubbed, and I would have to have waited longer. So, I spent about 45 minutes cross examining the Boston Sci rep. Afterward, my wife and I said "Let's go ahead" and we have never looked back in regret.

So, the reason I write this is to let you know my surgeon had unintentionally set me up for a product different than originally intended, so, I imagine changes are possible. Your Trial is Nov !? Tomorrow is Oct 31, if you have any desire to talk it over with your doc that time is tomorrow. Even so, do not be swayed merely by my personal experience, as there are others who have had decent experience with Medtronic, and goodness, they implant a lot of that product. Write to Rrae, for instance and see what her take might be.

Just a thought,
Prayin,
Mark56
