I'm awed by the experiences some of you have had. My neuropathy is relatively mild and recently diagnosed. In fact, I'm still awaiting results of the blood scan for B12, diabetes, etc.

My guess is that I'm not diabetic and my vitamin levels are OK -- I take supplements and eat high-B12 seafood regularly. But the lab tests will tell.

My mother developed peripheral neuropathy a decade or more ago. My initial guess (and of course this will yield to medical findings as they arise!) is that my neuropathy is hereditary and, if like hers, idiopathic.

I look forward to learning from the people on this forum. What I've read so far has impressed me a lot!

When you get your test results, please come to the PN forum here...interpretation by doctors, can be outdated, with old lab ranges for B12. We have the new guidelines here:

There can be over 100 causes of PN... hereditary is only one.

I am in the midst of being investigated as to the cause of my PN. Can any one tell me what to expect with this disease.? It seems to be spreading up my legs and now my hands are getting tingly. Thanks

My name is Melody and I'd like to welcome you to Neurotalk.

My husband has had neuropathy for over 20 years. His sister just got diagnosed with it, his mom had Guilliam Barre Syndrome and so far they have no clue why people in his family have neuropathy.

I'm a diabetic and I was diagnosed with neuropathy over 2 years ago. Began Methyl B-12 supplementation and never looked back since.

hi my name is kevin I am a bi lateral below knee amputee caused by (hmsn) since I had my Lt leg off in 2009 my right hand has steadily deteriorated now I have trouble fastening buttons or holding a pen sometimes I have trouble holding a knife and fork is there any one out there who has had similar problems because im wooried how far my hnds will detreriorate can anyone help PLEASE!

If you look at Mrs. D previous post, she provided the link to the Peripheral Neuropathy forum.

If you go there and post your concerns, others will respond and you'll get lots of good info.

Sorry to hear about your struggles. Not easy, I can only imagine. Glad you found us.
