Hi
I am here to learn as much as possible to help my significant other. He has had 3 serious back surguries in which each one caused extensive neuro damage. He has polysymptoms ( many ). Some of which are similar to MS. It is very complicated. What is really concerning he and I they are quickly getting worse in the last two years. It is to the point now he can bearly walk at times. He has had severe neuro shocks that are actually audible loud snaps at times. When they occur if he is standing his left leg will give out and he can fall with no warning. That side of his body has the most issues. When he does sleep the shocks can wake him up or he will jump in his sleep. One of the surguries caused severe ringing in his ears after which is of course affecting his hearing. In the last year and half the Neuropathy in his feet has gotten very severe to the point he cant stand on his feet long or walk well. His last A1C was normal but I have tried to get him to retest to rule out diabetes again but he refuses. He has been proddled stuck so many times and the damage the surgeries have done he just does not trust a doctor. Three years ago you could visually see his left leg constant 24/7 spasms. He has slow motility of Bowel. He has severe siatic nerve damage which I have read and learned how to massage. since no one knows who I am.. errections are severely painful causing severe neuro shocks in his back and down his leg. He has to have assistance with showers at times its hard for him to stand so I will give bed baths. Plus he has a fear of falling in the tub. He is a can do man and too proud to allow me to buy a bath chair for him. he cant sit or stand for any long periods of time because of pain. We used to travel a bit more but now just riding in a car around town to run errands is hard on him and causes pain. His sleep is dictated by pain. Also stress causes these shocks to worrsen. now he is like I said before proud so its hard on him because he is one to be independent. He resents his condition getting worse and is very angry about it. So I have to over look his grumpiness. Loss of ability is difficult for anyone but he has been so can do independent and now he is loosing his ability. He fired his doc he was one of those pill mills all they wanted to do was write scripts for meds that never worked and had side effects and keep him like a zombie. he said hell no that aint no way to live. Dont forget procedures that were costly that were useless. He fell and told his doc to look at the huge 4 inch wound and they said oh you lost your balance.. NO they would not listen when he said he had a neuro painful shock and his leg gave out on him. they totally ignored that and said oh you lost your balance. Is there anything that can be done for the neuropathy in his feet. it is really hard for him to not be mobile. it is not good either to not be active because blood pools and clots. also he knows about contractures so he has kept active as he can. I even tried to talk him into a golf cart to ride around in or something coolwith slicks on the back. But he is still not able to accept not walking. I buy diabetic socks and shoes that are softer for him but its stil hard for him to walk. I make sure I keep his feet clean and inspect them daily to keep from getting infected from the neuropathy. is there anything that can reduce this so he can feel better and be more functional with out pain and with out being on all the narcotics that docs like to give. he is soo tried of meds. he has now severe acid reflux from all the meds they had him taking but I have found that papaya enzyme is helping yes I know the diet and the not lay down for 3 hrs after eating etc but the only thing that has worked so far is the papaya enzyme if anyone has any info where I can find GOOD info on these neuro shocks and pain please post them away I think he really needs to go to a neuro doc but the other docs he saw has given him a bad taste for docs now thanks for listening sorry its choppy written but it was as a lot and I know I am missing some of it but .. mostly now we are trying to get the neuropathy in his feet to reduce so he can walk and feel better and more functional thanks |
