o got a cuncussion on the first Of january. I went to the ER two days later. They gave me a CT scan and found out that I had bruising and bleeding in the brain.they prescribed me some firm of steroid, they said for me too come back in a month after I was done taking the medication. I came back the next month and got another ct scan, the bleeding had stopped which was great. Okay now here's the problems. Weeks after my 2nd Ct scan(a month and a half after the accident) I loose my sence of smell. I didn't think much of it at first but now in getting really worried. It's been 4 months slice the Accident ( w months without smell). Please don't tell me ir lost it forever. I can't cope with that, I plan on going back to the doctor, can anyone give me some advice please. Could it have been the medication? Is this temporary and part of post concussive syndrome? Why was my loss of smell delayed two months? Why didn't I loose it the day I fell?

Hi Jason,
Welcome to the NeuroTalk Support Groups. I'm sorry you're dealing with so much. Here is the link below to the Traumatic Brain Injury and Post Concussion Syndrome Forum at NeuroTalk - For traumatic brain injury (TBI) and post concussion syndrome (PCS). http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum92.html edited to add: I just ran a search in the TBI/PCS Forum for "loss of smell" and there are many older posts. If you ever need help finding them please just let us know and someone will help you with that. |

I would ask your doctor it could be nothing and your since of smell will come back. Or something has apperead since the last time you went and you need to make sure there is nothing blocking up in your brain or scar tissue. I would call your doctor tell him whats going on and and make sure nothing new has arrived up there. Im sure your sense of smell will come back soon enough when you aleast expect it .
