Hi Joeyy and welcome. I had a skull fracture with epidural hematoma and subarachnoid hemorrhage in November 2010. I also had hallucinations, some retrograde and about four weeks of post traumatic amnesia. Like you, my neuropsychological evaluation showed deficits in executive function. The good news is that with continued therapy I’m grateful to be able to report that a second NPE 3 months later showed a return to normal functions. All brain injuries are different but there is reason to be hopeful and optimistic about your recovery. Best to you in your continued recovery and please continue to share your progress with us.

What Happened: On November 29, 2010, I was walking across the street and was hit by a light rail commuter train. Result was a severe traumatic brain injury and multiple fractures (skull, pelvis, ribs). Total hospital stay was two months, one in ICU followed by an additional month in neuro-rehab. Upon hospital discharge, neurological testing revealed deficits in short term memory, executive functioning, and spatial recognition. Today: Neuropsychological examination five months post-accident indicated a return to normal cognitive functioning, and I returned to work approximately 6 months after the accident. I am grateful to be alive and am looking forward to enjoying the rest of my life. Last edited by Lightrail11; 05-07-2012 at 05:06 PM. |
