So this is the first time I have ever posted on a community board, so I'm a little nervous. Three years ago I started having level 8-10 (pain) migraine like headaches at all times. Went to see Neuro he had no clue, finally a MRI
of neck showed a disk cutting off spinal cord. Had surgery. Guess what?, still had headaches. Fast forward to about 4 months ago.... finally canned neuro, all he wanted to do was perscribe meds and then tell me i was on to many and he never wanted to do any tests. Now I have new neuro who performed a 96 hr EEG with (2) 4 hr video sessions. The results showed that I am having migraine activity and i am having frontal lobe seizures. I was in shock! How can you have a migraine headache everyday of your life for 3 yrs and how can you have seizures and not know it? He put me on 100mg topomax 2 x daily. My headaches finally started getting better, I only have a really bad one maybe once a week. But a couple of weeks ago I started having simple (conscious) partial seizures. It started as a few a day but now it's to many to count. I feel it start in head and stomach and then moves to right arm. sometimes my arm shakes and then somestimes maybe just a finger or wrist will move. Of course neuro order another 96 hr EEG. I get results next week. He restrictricted my driving until then. I feel like my life and freedoms are being stipped away. Well, thanks for letting me vent I fell a little better. ![]() |

Catwall.....I suffered from migraines since teens. In my 40's really started having them almost daily. Just before period would have some relief. The gyny had felt I needed a hysterectomy for other causes; but felt the migraines would be helped because after hysterectomy could be put on a even level or hormones. Had hysterectomy. Did not help migraines. I still get them; but not as often. I do use, what I call a miracle med..Imitrex.
But, do have to be careful not to overdo because rebound headaches can occur. Your seizures are of great concern. Please let us know the results when you get them. Thanks for coming to NT. Really a kind, caring group of people here. (Ger) |

Thanks for making me feel welcome. It's nice to know I'm not alone and there are other people out there who can relate. My family tries really hard to understand and be supportive. But my husband is out of town a lot for work and it is really hard for young adults and teenagers to grasp exactly what is going on during my seizures and how much pain I'm really in. I plan on coming here often. I'll get my test results in a couple of days and I'll let
you know what I find out. Thanks again Cat |

You poor thing. I feel for you. I just wanted to say hi and welcome. I have TMJ and sometimes it hits you out of the blue and you don't know what to do. They prescribed everything and nothing worked. So I just try and enjoy whatever life I enjoy and when the TMJ hits, I just use warm compresses and lay down. It subsides. I can't imagine what your migraines are like. I'm so sorry you are going through this. We are a very friendly bunch of people here. Good luck with your tests. Melody

Hi, I'm new on this site and am having a hard time figuring it out. I posted a couple weeks ago asking if anyone out there had a Pipeline Stent put in for a brain aneurysm. Noone replied and I'm due to go in next week for a third try. the surgeon attempted twice and had to abort because I was starting to hemorage. I am so scared; this has been a life changeing event!!! i was fine & all of a sudden I had a CT scan after having a head injury and here I am diagnosed with a basilar aneurysm that has a large opening and close to my cartoid artery with a double bulge on each side. This next try they will attempt to go through my main artery in my arm instead of mmy groin. If anyone out there has any advice or feedback; I would appreciate hearing from you.] thanks, Bella |

Please let us know if the flashing items in a thread cause problems for you. Some people with seizures, and with migraines have problems with this. Just like when you go into a room with some kinds of lighting just so you know. I am Donna, and I had seizures as a child. My mother has had one grand mal seizure. And my son Derrick has had epilepsy since he was in 1st grade. He is now 20 years old. And for the first time he has been seizure free for a year. My now 26 year old had seizures and migraines for about 6 months. The medicine depakote seems to have stopped his seizures at the age of 19. And he still has a few migraines. Migraines run in my family. I have migraines and they are really bad about one period of the year. They have been really bad for the last 2 months. We just upped my topamax, 2 weeks ago. To 150 mgs. If your topamax, isn't controlling the migraines. And the seizures are getting worse. You might want to see if you can raise the med a little. It might help. Please feel free to message me if I can help. Even if you just want to vent. Donna |
