Hi Katrina, and welcome. You might want to read through some of the posts on our Multiple Sclerosis forum; here's the link:

http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum17.html

I have MS, and I do experience phantom smells. Sometimes it's a fragrance, such as fruit or perfume. Sometimes it's an odor, such as cigarette smoke or something rotten. And sometimes it's something I can't really subscribe.

I have ever since I was a kid - I called it "getting a smell stuck in my nose" I still get this from time to time - generally it is something unpleasant, but liveable with, and indescribable. Sometimes it really bothers me - really really - most of the time it is just noticeable not horrible

Sometimes I get motion sick first (dont even have to be moving?? but I get it) THEN I get the smell

Sometimes I just get the smell

Sometimes I get the smell AND get nauseated

hmmm maybe - it lasts for days though. I do get migraines now - never used to. Mine are hard to tell apart from headaches as mine arent terrible pain (usually) but dont respond to tylenol etc and if I continue to just rest treat it normally like a headache they will end up epic

Sometimes I will have a visual disturbance before.....

Never had any other sort of seizure activity what so ever though. As a nurse I have seen a few types - including the petite mal and grande mal, but never focal seizures, or ones that effect smell - though when it comes to the brain I beleive anything is possible!

Sometimes I wonder if I shouldnt have my head scanned anyway.... just in case, due to the migraines
