Hello. I am a 63 year old woman. I had a cerebral aneurysm repaired in 2011. Since then I had 1 TIA and 1 small CVA., with no residual effects or disability. I have developed neuropathy over the last year, as well as leucocytoclastic vasculitis. I am being fallowed by a rheumotologist, have had numerous blood tests, MRI Ct scans. I took Neurontin for the intense burning pain all over. It was getting worse week by week. I took 300 mg 3 times daily and 600 mg at night. I have now started Lyrica, hope that will help better. EMG on arms was negative. I have numbness in feet and hands, and also now in gums. I beleave it is small fiber neuropathy.
But the doctors has not been able to find the reason for the burning neuropathy. I had blood test for Sjogrens twice ( the neurologist says the blood test is false negative 4 out of 10 times) I had negative lip biopsy. I think it is related to vasculitis. It has now taken 6 months, I go from doctor to doctor. I have tremorus feeling inside. In the evening I am exhausted and tremors inside increase as the burning all over increases. It feels like the doctors are not listening. Any suggestion? |

Welcome to NT!
![]() You've come to the right place for support and understanding! I'm sorry about these symptoms you are faced with. I completely understand the feeling that no one takes us seriously and doctors can tend to pass us off to the next guy. Fortunately, the PN (Peripheral Neuropathy) forum here is very active and alot of research has been done on this very frustrating condition. Here's the link to take you there: http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=-1&f=20 Be sure to check out the top section, called the 'Stickies'. It really helps to get a better understanding of what neuropathy is and how it affects people in so many different ways. Make yourself right at home! You are NOT alone! Caring, Rae ![]() |

Hi, I'm just a tad older than you. You youngster, you. :-)
One of the things that has helped me a lot is B12. My B12 levels showed "Profound Deficiency" when I tried to kill myself over a decade ago. It was lucky I did try because that's how my low vitamin B12 was discovered. Replacement of vitamin B12 has done wonders for my health, to include pain reduction. I'm not totally well, but I am a lot better health-wise than I was prior to having B12 replacement. Have you looked at the symptoms of low vitamin B12?
