Default Hi

I'm glad to find this place.

I just got turned down at the hearing before the judge. I've had OCD since childhood, have arthritis and fluid in a knee, and Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome. I've only survived up to now by neglecting my health so as to keep a roof over my head; going off meds so as to have the energy to work, getting too little sleep, etc. I was homeless for years. As I've gotten older, even that is not doable. I got into a HUD program so as to keep that roof over my head, and have stayed on meds for the longest stretch of time in my life. But, the judge turned me down.

I suspect judges consider OCD something funny, and the people with it silly.

Anyway. After being denied at the hearing, how long a process is the appeal at this stage of the game? Am I looking at another 5 years of limbo? I heard most lose appeals that are after the hearing. Is that true?

Hi, and welcome to the community! You've come to a good place. Sometimes weekends are a little slow, but there will be others along who will share with you and support you.

Have you found our forum specific to anxiety and OCD? If not, here is the link: http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum50.html

There is surely nothing funny about OCD. You are so right.

Hi there. Welcome

Turned down for what? Social Security Disability, Workman's Comp? We have a Disability forum on this site but I'm not sure that is applicable in your case. If you can clarify, we can help you.

Take care, and again. Welcome

Melody

Default Hello Bothends

Welcome to Neuro Talk. You found a good place to talk. If you have been turned down, I would suggest that you find a lawyer, or assistant to help you through the appeals process. I do know what you are going through. If it were not for my son I would have lost my home while I waited for my appeal. I got my congressman involved also.
OCD, my mother had this too. I hope you have a compassionate doctor to help you.
Did your doctor write a letter to the judge telling him you were disabled 100%? That letter does a lot toward your case. ginnie
