New member here, stumbled across this site. Have been having some major issues since July of last year. I'm not sure where to start without having long explanations. I can tell you that I had an MRI on my brain back in August as well as a CT scan which were perfectly normal. There was only an incidental finding which said:
"In the cavernous sinus on the left there is a partially fatty lesion with some surrounding cystic component which demonstrates a punctate central calcification. This may represent a small dermoid. It is fairly well defined. Six month follow up MRI with attention to the left cavernous sinus is recommended. Obtaining a fat-suppressed image is also recommended. If the patient has clinical symptoms shorter-term followup is recommended. This would include cranial neuropathies of the III, IV and VIth nerves. I do not believe that this impinges upon nerve V in Meckel's Cave directly" I've asked an ENT, Doctor and neurologist about it and they said it was normal. My current symptoms are as follows (symptoms I have not had for 36 years of my life): -Suddenly afraid of heights -Feel like I'm going to fall backwards going UP escalators -In movie theaters or stadiums, I can't sit ANYWHERE. Even in some certain chairs. I feel like I'm going to panic and like I'm going to black and fall over (in bar chairs too). The last time I went to a stadium, I left because I felt like something was going to push me forward from behind (we were very high in normal seats I have always been in for the past 5 years for every week). I have not been back to a large venue like this since. -Loss of weight (all tests for cancers that I have done, have been negative). Weight loss was mainly in legs, which always used to be big and muscular. -Slight tinnitus in right ear (very faint, only heard when it's quiet) Some of my past diagnosis and issues I've had the past 6-7 months when this all started: -A bloody nose when this started with a feeling like I was going to pass out -Had a neck/upper back issue which I went to PT for -Had allergy testing done -Had to get a crown put on a tooth (dental work) -Issues started to happen after all of this, main symptom started during PT -Doctor's found Hep B in me but assured me it was not causing this symptom and it was a mild case I had -Neurologist said it was a Vestibular dysfunction -ENT said it was an inner ear issue and later told me it was Meniere's because of the ringing in ear. Ringing in right ear started 2-3 months after the initial symptoms started so I doubt it was this (plus, the room has never spun on me so there was no vertigo) -Low Vitamin D and Low testosterone I'm unsure what to do at this point. The symptom is still there and VERY debilitating on life in general and things I enjoyed, I can't do now. Would the issue in my sinus with the lesion cause something like this? Should I get it removed? I'm very confused by what is causing this and nobody can give me a real answer. |

I'm so sorry I can't be of more help. Believe me, one of our more knowledgeable members will come along and look at what you wrote and they'll give you great input. We have a lot of great members here. I really wish I could have looked at all your symptoms and my brain would go: Aha, I know what's wrong with this person. But alas, that's not me. But we have lots of people on here who, while they can't diagnose you per se, they can give you all their expertise and tell you if you need further testing and in what area. Just sit tight. Again, welcome Melody

I have a lot more details if needed, with specific dates as to when things happened, etc. Is there any other of the sub-forums on here I should post this on? |

Thank you Darlene,
I want to update you guys on some things: -I've been seeing a chiropractor and told him about the situation. He suspects something in my inner ear threw things off. I was also talking to another friend who ran into another chiro who went through similar stuff and claims he can treat me pretty well and get me back to normal, as he has dealt with a situation like this before. He suggested that something got thrown off in my PT sessions and even went as far as to say that the electronic stimulations I was having done during it, might have done something to a nerve to cause more issues. I asked my current chiro to take x-rays to make sure nothing was wrong in back or neck and he said other than a little scoliosis (which I am sure I've had for many years prior to this) he found nothing wrong. -The past 2 weekends, I spent a couple of hours at the mall just trying to go up and down the escalators and stairs. Believe it or not, it's helping me. Yesterday was pretty much the best day, as I barely had a reaction of feeling like I was going to fall back. Granted, this was after a chiropractor appointment so I am going to try again today. But all my normal activities seemed normal yesterday. -I do notice at work that I can no longer sit back in a chair or sit comfortably, my posture seems to be sitting forward a lot. Something changed with this and I believe it's related. Ironically, posture is what they tried to work on in PT with me. My posture is fine when I am standing. At first, I was worried about developing early Parkinson's with all of this but 2 people who have family members who had Parkinson'ss, assured me it's not that. My handwriting has not changed, my speech has not changed, I'm still walking normal. I do have shakey hands every since this occurred which I did not have before. It all came out of nowhere.. -The times I feel best as when I am standing, driving, moving around and, believe it or not, ice skating (I used to play ice hockey and had to quit ever since this issue occurred) -One of the initial symptoms started during Physical Therapy and also happened at work. It was so bad at work for a week or two, I was scared. Both eyes got bloodshot, my head felt like it had a lot of pressure in it, I got red and felt like I was going to pass out. At some point, even when I had to sit on a toilet, I felt like I was going to pass out. It's a lot better since then. I initially thought it was issue with my blood pressure or low blood sugar, but neither were an issue when tested. -Someone suggested that it's possible I had a concussion. I don't know how I would have gotten one as I never got hit in the head. They also suggested maybe a partial stroke or seizure, but wouldn't the brain MRIs and CT scans reveal this? What about an issue with a blood vessel? So I'm lost for answers. What caused this and what do I do to fix it? -Did my PT session cause it? -Would the Hep B virus I had mess with my senses that bad? -What about dental work? My back 2 molars now have crowns on them and I had the dental work done during this time -Could the allergy testing I had done trigger anything off? -Could it be that thing they found in my sinus? Sorry for the long post. I'm looking for answers and how to proceed, as obviously nobody has been able to "fix me". |

Wanted to put an update here:
1.) Been trying a new chiropractor. He suspects my C1 Atlas is off and has done two adjustments. I felt better after the first one, but worst after the 2nd one. It was like 2 steps forward... 3 steps back. I'm going to give it a few more times though. He seems to genuinely care. 2.) I did see an ENT for the tinnitus in my ear. He said I had some form of Meniere's Disease. I'm not buying it though, especially with weight loss... there's an underlying issue I think causing my problems. So right now, I have a trip coming up but I'm going to go ahead and do the following after I am done with the trip: A.) See a new dentist in case there is an issue with a tooth causing this imbalance. B.) Try acupuncture for ringing of the ears. C.) See a new ENT for a second opinion in case they can find something that the other ENT could not with his old methods. D.) Seek out an Ortho Doctor or some doctor that could get an MRI done of my neck and back, in case there is a tumor of some sort causing my issue of not being able to sit up straight now. C.) Seeking out a new neuro for a second opinion on that sinus cyst I mentioned. Especially since my family has history of brain issues (mother died of aneurysm, aunt died of brain cancer.... grandfather and great grandmother on dad's side had dementia which also killed them). I'll keep you guys posted! I do have a video blog I put out on YouTube for this stuff. Not sure if I can post links here but I'd like to in case someone can help me here and follow what I'm going through. |
