Have you tried an endocrinologist, Carocris? I also had these symptoms along with my PN and the doc sent me to see an endocrinologist who took a whole load of blood tests and found a problem with my thyroid, then went for scans and finally a biopsy (my thyroid was enlarged)....no cancer, but a sluggish thyroid...now on Synthroid (each visit after blood test, showed still sluggish) until dosage was right....and finally not falling asleep in my soup (lol) Some days I am tired but not that fatigue feeling....a big difference....

Still no diagnosis but neuro prescribed Amentadine to help with fatigue.
He is sending me for Metobolic testing. Spect San impression indicated hypoperfusion on basil ganglia and putamen is involved. MRI and ct scan showed pareital cerebral volume loss. Most bothersome symptoms are Fatigue, difficulty walking ( very slow) and postural tremor. Amentadine seems to help a little but keeping me awake at night. Does anyone else have the same test results and/or symptoms? Any idea what this might be? |

Hi carocris,
Welcome to the forum! If I may ask have you had any sleep study tests done? I had to have this done and often I would wake up in the morning feeling tired and sometimes feel sore and it was then that my Dr. found out I was having seizures in my sleep. I have had epilepsy for 43 yrs. but I never realized I had them in my sleep. Sometimes tingling and parts of a persons body feeling like it's asleep is part of a seizure. You mentioned that it happens more frequently at certain times of the yr. and that is possible because of the amount of serotonin in the air. In the spring and summer there's more serotonin while in the fall and winter there's less and this can sometimes affect a persons nervous system. My advice to you is to see a Epileptololgist (dr. specializing in epilepsy) at an Epilepsy Center these Drs. can find out for sure what's going on both in neurology and epilepsy after a few tests. In the mean time try taking vitamin B12 1000 mcg. once a day and cut back on the carbs and starch foods this helps calm the nerves. I wish you the best of luck and May God Bless You! Sue |

Thank you for your response. Not sure what the neuro will check for after Metobolic testing. I am feeling a little better taking the amentadine. Sleeping better walking better and less tremor. The tingling/numbness is coming and going but not near as bad as it was. Really weird. Trying to stay positive but not knowing the cause is really hard to deal with. God bless you too, |
