Default new member. tethered cord syndrome (1st Doc visit today)

Today is finally here. I will see the neurosurgeon this afternoon after being DX by an MRI with TCS one month ago and out of work due to pain and weakness.

Another member kindly advised to ask the Doc 1) how many untethering Sx's he has done. 2) what are the chances of re-tethering, and 3) ask about arachnoidits. Does anyone have any other comments or recommendations for me to ask the doc? ,

Hi SueT,
Welcome to the NeuroTalk Support Groups.

I'm sorry but I wouldn't be able to make any suggestions about what questions to ask the doctor but I see you've found the Spinal Disorders Forum, so I'm hoping that you can get some information there.

take care.

Default I believe if found a Great doctor TCS

So I saw the Neuro-surgeon on Thursday and he confirmed I have tethered cord syndrome, BUT he acknowledged that he has never preformed the surgery and that he will not do it. He also ordered more testing MRI of my full spine and a brain scan. He said he wants to get a full picture and to make sure there is no other issue going on as well due to some of my symptoms. He said he didn't want anyone to piece-meal my health. Today is Tuesday (4 working days after seeing the doc) and I have already been approved by insurance to have all the required tests and an appointment for the test and appointment to see the doc again to review the tests and discuss my options. I feel confident that this is a good doc/person and that he will help me make an informed decision and help me find a Sx with TCS experience if needed. Though I'm still anxious I don't feel crazy and alone anymore. Thanks for listening!

Hi again Sue,

It's good to hear that you have confidence in your doctor to help you sort out all your test results and guide you from there.

It's also good to hear that you're feeling a lot less alone now.

All the best to you...
