I was diagnosed with type II diabetes about 15 years ago. I am 51 years young. Four years ago, I started experiencing a sort of numbness in my feet which was followed by intense and unbearable shooting/stabbing pain in my feet.
Currently, I can't stand, walk, sit, or lie down for more than just a few minutes without having unbearable pain below my knees. I can't get enough sleep and I am constantly in a stupor. I have had to quit working, the pain is so bad. I have no source of income other than my life's savings which are diminishing very quickly. I found this site by searching for information on neuoropathy. I've never shared this information with anyone. I've not wanted anyone to know for some reason. I feel disabled and I don't know what to do about it. Michelle |

Hi Michelle, and welcome! I'm glad you've found us. I see that you've found a few places of interest to you. If you need a little help navigating, just holler, we're all here together.
As for living with disabilities, please focus on the "living" part and find all the ways you can to keep doing it. I'm a mess with multiple sclerosis but still flit around the country like a teenager on spring break (who happens also to be fall-down drunk, sumultaneously badly hungover, and naturally confused about most important things).

Hi Michelle,
Welcome! I am gald your search brought you here but am sorry that you are in pain. Please check out the PN forum. Those folks are a hoot and extremely smart and helpful too. You will love all those guys, especially Melody and Brian and Billye and the whole gang. Also please stop over into the vitamin forum and read up on Rose's B-12 thread. B-12 is super important especially if you are low. ![]() Last edited by watsonsh; 06-12-2007 at 09:57 PM. |

I'm glad to have the chance to meet you. Welcome to the NeuroTalk forums! This past December I experienced a problem VERY similar to what you describe, but it was on the left side only, and went from my thigh to my ankle. The pain was horrendous, the worst I've known in my life. After six weeks the worst of it faded away, but I still suffer ghost pain, and I'm afraid that it could come back at any time.
Right now I'm being tested for a number of conditions which might have caused the pain, but I don't have an answer to it yet. If I do find out anything that might help, I will certainly pass it along to you. And in the meantime, I hope you like it enough here to stay on as an active member and become part of the group! Good luck to you, and wishes for pain-free days! Idealist |
