Hello and welcome to the NeuroTalk Support Groups.

I would suggest reposting on the
Peripheral Neuropathy Forum

There is also an information thread in
PN tips, Resources, Supplements & Other Treatments Forum

Charcot Marie Tooth Disease (CMT)
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/sh...ot+marie+tooth

You can also try the
Forum Search Feature
You can use keywords to search the whole forum or just specific ones.

I hope you can find some information and support here to help.
take care.

Welcome rdreher1976.

As you can tell from my signature I have CMT (Charcot-Marie-Tooth Syndrome). I assume that is what your son has from the subject. There is at least one more person on here who also has it. There are many types of it as you may know.

Does anyone else in the family have CMT or symptoms such as your son? You could talk to his neurologist or AFO person as to what might help. Perhaps he needs a different set of AfO's. But it seems legs and feet hurt regardless if on them a lot.

Yes its the mutated x cromo. Mostly males in family.we have been to nuero (yearly) and afos on 4th set.... Just started working and I know over use is just as bad as no use so I'm just seeing if other people are trying other things to feel better...

Thank you for the information. Hope someone else with CMT can help. I am familiar with most all of the types of CMT (and there are many) and how they are acquired. Here is a good site which you may already have read.

Hiya,
I've been dealing w cmt for over 40 yrs and things have been rapidly progressing Been doing afo"s for 30 yrs. I have afew questions first..do you know what type of cmt he has(there are 30 types they can test for. 2.what type of afo's does he wear? (rigid or (cant remember term) flexible at ankle..articulate(?)or kafo's. 3.Is it just his legs or are hands involved too? 4.Has he had any surgerys? 5. is he on any type of meds for cmt)6. is his pain afo related (poor fit)

Cmt is very complicated and no fun. Some cmters drink quinine(tonic water) to help w leg cramps.Epsom salt bath or foot soak can help too. There are meds that many take. Coffee helps for endurance lol
Guess I need more info re type of pain. What kind of work does he do?

Hope to hear back from ya
