Default New PCS with a set back....Please help:)

Hi folks! I was rear ended by a vehicle at high speed on Nov 6, 2015 and sustained a concussion, and neck/back pain. I took 3 months off work due to terrible symptoms and started feeling better and tried to return to work twice and had HUGE set backs. I am wondering about other people having set backs.... any info or advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated! Not only did my original symptoms (headaches, dizzy, balance problems etc, etc..) come back but I had all these weird new symptoms too.... ringing in my ears, slurred speech, trouble spelling, even this weird metallic taste in my mouth etc, etc... After the last set back, I am back to mostly staying in the dark and resting and going for walks (thank the Lord that walks help!). I am kind of afraid to try going "out into the world" again cause the symptoms got so bad last time.

The other thing I am curious about is fluorescent lighting....I have found that with certain lights I start getting shaky and dizzy and headachy.....is this common?? It was very strange.

Thanks so much for andy advice guys! Hope your day is good.

Hello Laurie and welcome to Neurotalk Support Groups,

I am sorry to hear of your trouble with PCS after your accident but thank goodness you are still here with us. That must've been very frightening. It can take time recovering from PCS. It seems like a good thing that you were feeling better and you are certainly doing the right things being careful and decreasing stimulation. Hopefully it is now just a case of too much too soon. Fluorescent lights aggravate a lot of people and can set off headaches. I wouldn't be surprised they bother you.

You will find information on PCS here
Traumatic Brain Injury and Post Concussion Syndrome

The Search feature at the top of each page will help you look for specific topics. FAQ answers many common forum usage questions.

This is a wonderful video from Jane Macgonigal, a game designer, doing a TEDtalk after her PCS and recovery.

I hope you find relief and healing soon. There are many supportive people here. Welcome aboard.

Have you been seen by any doctors?
Did you have any procedures?

Hi there
Thanks for writing! Yes I have been to a neurologist at the concussion clinic, PCP, PT, acupuncture, rolfer, vision MD/therapy, etc... Ironically, the concussion clinic is the worst (have to go tomorrow)...I have to sit under fluoro lights waiting for an hour to see the doc and its usually just a quick once over. Nothing has really helped that much. I go to see my vision MD today so I am going to ask her about my eyes again. Between pleasure, study, and fun I used to read for hours a day and now its a few minutes before I get a headache spike. I just started with a chiro and next week with an osteopath who does craniosacral therapy. Any advice is welcome Was feeling pretty bummed out this week cause my job posted my position last week.... But I know God has a plan in all of this.
