Default Hello I am a new member

Dec 22nd 07, 7:40EST

Hi:

I really do not know if I am doing this correctly. I am computer illiterate.

I have been diagnosed with several nerve diseases. I really need a support group with whom I can connect. I have no close family alive anymore. This all started it 1990 with breast cancer and has progressed to fibromyalgia and other nerve diseases for which I cannot get seem to get a proper diagnosis inspite of having been to several specialists.

If one of you have time, would you please help me get started. Since I have had so many chemo treatments, radation and operations, I am no longer the sharpest tool in the drawer.

Thank you.

Default And when you mention chemo--

--toxic peripheral neuropathy immediately springs to mind; many of the metal based chemotherapy drugs are nerve toxic, and have a long history of causing neuropathy.

The good news is that over time, some recovery can usually be expected. The bad news it that nerves regenerate more slowly than just about any other body tissue, so improvement is extremely gradual and hard to notice except in long-term retrospect (we're talking months to years).

Come look at our neuropathy forum:

Also, here's a good overview of toxic neuropathies:
