Confused mlookenup

My name is Myrna,
I have a problem and would like to know if anyone out their has the same problem and what do you do about it.
My doctor has been treating me for a bad case of strepe throat until he went to check my ears and the pain shot through my head by just touching my hair. He has me scheduled to see a "Ear, Nose, Throat" Specialist.
My throat hurts when I just swallow and drinking and eating is not much of a option. It is just on the right side. About two months pryor to this I had been treated for a bad case of sinus infection. My teeth on the right side hurt. Now I see that is some of what I am going through now.
Doctor gave my some "Lyrica" which didn't help.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Myrna
(P.S.) I have no clue what I am doing here. I"ve never posted a "THREAD"

Hello Myrna and Welcome to Neurotalk!!!

I'm not a doctor but your symptoms sound to me very similar to those of Trigeminal Neuralgia. (Trigeminal Neuralgia is an extremely painful inflammation of the largest nerve in the skull(trigeminal nerve).)

Trigeminal Neuralgia Symptoms

  • Very painful, sharp electric-like spasms last a few seconds to minutes
  • Pain is triggered by touch or sounds
  • Pain during chewing, eating, drinking, shaving, or brushing teeth

We do have a Trigeminal Neuralgia Forum you may want to check out:
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum26.html

I'm sorry you are having such a hard time. Pain sucks! But you have found a great place to come to. You will find a WONDERFUL group of people here who are caring, compassionate, helpful, friendly, etc...

Please feel free to roam around and join in anywhere!!!!

I look forward to seeing you around the boards!!!

I used to have bad sinus infections and I would also have pain in my teeth...part of the infection...stopped hurting when the infection cleared up...

Hi Myrna:

First of all, you posted just fine!!! Good job!!

You poor thing. Pain is not fun, under any circumstance, but when you have it in the face and it involves the trigeminal nerve, well, let's just say, I've been there. Years ago, I had Bells Palsy. I thought I would die from the pain. I was given prescription pain killers and in two weeks, my face practically returned to normal and the pain went away.

Ice is supposed to help when there is inflammation. Have you tried ice?

I do hope the ear nose and throat specialist has SOME answers for you!!

Keep us informed okay??

Take care

Default Hi Myrna,

I'm glad you found the forum. The girls have sent you to a good area to help you with what you are dealing with.

I have RSD but I have been lucky not to deal with pain in my face from it. That has to be very hard.

I hope you start seeing some better less painful days soon.

Ada
