Default Hi everyone

I've just joined the group today. I am a long-time "migraineur" though recently have had facial and occipital neuralgia added to the list of details. I'm looking for persons who have identified cold air, drafts or air conditioning as triggers for their neuralgia--regardless of where it develops (head, neck, sinuses/face, etc.), and what they've done to address the pain. I also have something going on where I'll develop a splitting headache in the middle of the night and it's due to my neck moving into a certain position during my sleep that apparently pinches a nerve somewhere.

Over 6 years, I've been to almost a dozen specialists, tried out over 40 prescriptions, had sinus surgery, gone to physical therapy, accupunture, chiropractors, massage, yoga, etc. Since the beginning of the year, I've had 2 nerve blocks administered up my nose to deaden the nerve in the anterior ethmoid sinus, and one occipital nerve block. They all relieved the pain but it's temporary and the next step seems to be surgery: "nerve decompressions".

Anyone else out there with similar stories??

Hi Mimi and Welcome to NeuroTalk. I feel so awful for anyone who suffers from migraine type headaches. My own dau is one of those people. She is taking Topamax now and that has decreased them immensely.

I hate headaches and I just want to say that I hope you can get some relief from that awful pain. However, I am glad you found us and hope you make yourself at home here...

http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum26.html
we also have a p.n. forum but I dont have the link you can scroll down the index. this place is great look around and get comfy.
I have a type of T.N. and my triggers are moving air brezzes wind even breathing threw my mouth and the breath over my bottom lip! also chewing food brushing teeth... and temps of thing like drinks and food and also dislike sliver wear and love plastic spoons. okay how do i deal with the air thing... face cover like a bandana or in cold I use like a fleece neck wrap thing pulled up over my face with just eyes showing. so yup I look like a bank robber a lot of time. also keep window in home and car up ...if you want to talk more I post in the t.n. room and you can message me anytime.
Peace
BMW p.s. I get head aches too and sleep best in "happy chair" so I am not laying all the way back pillows on each side...
