hi all. first post
i am based in wales uk and have ME , fibro and am pregnant ( just passed 12 weeks ). i take oramorph and co-codamol ( codeine and paracetamol/ acetominophen ). i am being carefully monitored on morphine during pregnancy but obviously am not v happy taking it ![]() i have a stomach problem as yet undiagnosed causing the pain i take morphine for, tests are negative, ultrasounds are negative and they cannot cat scan me ( or will not ) now i am pregnant. stomach cnsultant told me to come back when i have had the baby for more tests andto stay on omeprazole and opiates... hmmph. ob gyn consultant is not too happy about me being on them, and gp is happy for me to be on them saying they are not that important until the third trimester when the baby's lings are developing. in a worse case scenario they can give an antidote type thing to the baby when born to prevent withdrawal but that makes me v sad. i have come on here for info, to find out alternative pain management techniques maybe and see if anyone else is or has been in this position. i feel awful having to be on morphine whilst pregnant but do not know what else to do, the pain is v bad. pregnancy has also made is far worse. i am also single with no support but social services are debating giving me direct payments so i can " buy in " my own care i was a mental health worker before i got ME 2.5 yrs ago, working with self harmers, abuse survivors, drug users, dual diagnosis and challenging behaviour. i am now registered disabled and when well enough am a musician and restore instruments. i am 40, pagan, lesbian and a big music fan ![]() i am in a v difficult situation . hoping to find support and ideas here ty for listening. |

Firstly... welcome to NeuroTalk Soliloquise. I truly hope you get the answers that you seek.
I feel for you, especially being pregnant and having all of this to deal with. I'm over 40, and a christian and I don't fit your other details either, but that doesn't mean I don't care! I also take strong pain killing medications, but I'm far too old to be having babies and I can only begin to understand the fears that you have for yourself and your unborn child, but especially the baby. I truly hope you get the answers that you seek, but even if they're slow coming, please keep in touch Soliloquise.... we do care here on NeuroTalk. ![]()

Hi Hon!! First of all, what is ME? And as far as being a pagan, is that the same thing as being an athiest? Just curious. I'm not religious myself but I was raised Catholic by the nuns and the priests. DON'T EVEN ASK HOW THAT WENT!!!! lol Did you plan to become pregant? I know that some gay couples find donors because they want to become parents. Hope you don't mind the questions. Welcome to our little corner of the universe. Melody

Hi.
I looked it up. It says that it's Myalgic Encephalomyelitis. Is this what you've been diagnosed with? If so, my goodness, you certainly do have your hands full now don't you? And shame on that guy. Do you have family support? Friends? Obviously, at this stage of your life, family and friends are what would be important, right? I hope they are there for you. And the hedgewitch thing? Wow, that's the coolest thing. I've always said (about myself), I'm not religious, but I'm a deeply spiritual person. I must look into paganism. I don't think I'm a pagan. Not sure about being an athiest. But Goddess? Now that's something I can appreciate. lol

Well, I find you rather fascinating. You take what you have been dealt with, AND YOU DEAL WITH IT. Many people don't do that. I mean we all have issues (and brother, do you have your share or what!!).
And you said the following: I believe that i am responsible for my actions and that every action has a reaction. ie karma... therefore treat others as well as you can. help out, give money to the homeless etc.. Well, this is so interesting I ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY, agree with this. I live my life like this. And the growing of stuff. Well, I grow my own sprouts in my kitchen, and I make soups, and put them in my salads. I have not eaten any beef in YEARS!! and recently made the switch from chicken. Because I'm diabetic, I need to get my protein so I still eat some fish. But for me, if I could be totally vegan, (well, I'm still pursuing that option). I'm older than you are, but I can still learn, and I definitely apply what I learn. Let me give you some good news about pain. When you have your baby, and that baby looks up at you, and takes his/her little hand and reaches for your finger, well, you will have such a feeling come over you, let me tell you. Babies, and their love, well they are very healing. Your brain will release endorphins, and you will feel lovely. I know, I've been there. So best of luck and keep taking care of yourself. Melody
