Cool Hi all.. new... ME, fibro, morphine and pregnancy

hi all. first post
i am based in wales uk and have ME , fibro and am pregnant ( just passed 12 weeks ). i take oramorph and co-codamol ( codeine and paracetamol/ acetominophen ).

i am being carefully monitored on morphine during pregnancy but obviously am not v happy taking it without it tho i cannot function for the pain, end up in the emergency room where they give me pethedine or you guessed it morphine.

i have a stomach problem as yet undiagnosed causing the pain i take morphine for, tests are negative, ultrasounds are negative and they cannot cat scan me ( or will not ) now i am pregnant. stomach cnsultant told me to come back when i have had the baby for more tests andto stay on omeprazole and opiates... hmmph. ob gyn consultant is not too happy about me being on them, and gp is happy for me to be on them saying they are not that important until the third trimester when the baby's lings are developing. in a worse case scenario they can give an antidote type thing to the baby when born to prevent withdrawal but that makes me v sad.

i have come on here for info, to find out alternative pain management techniques maybe and see if anyone else is or has been in this position.

i feel awful having to be on morphine whilst pregnant but do not know what else to do, the pain is v bad. pregnancy has also made is far worse. i am also single with no support but social services are debating giving me direct payments so i can " buy in " my own care

i was a mental health worker before i got ME 2.5 yrs ago, working with self harmers, abuse survivors, drug users, dual diagnosis and challenging behaviour. i am now registered disabled and when well enough am a musician and restore instruments.

i am 40, pagan, lesbian and a big music fan

i am in a v difficult situation . hoping to find support and ideas here

ty for listening.

Firstly... welcome to NeuroTalk Soliloquise. I truly hope you get the answers that you seek.

I feel for you, especially being pregnant and having all of this to deal with. I'm over 40, and a christian and I don't fit your other details either, but that doesn't mean I don't care!

I also take strong pain killing medications, but I'm far too old to be having babies and I can only begin to understand the fears that you have for yourself and your unborn child, but especially the baby.

I truly hope you get the answers that you seek, but even if they're slow coming, please keep in touch Soliloquise.... we do care here on NeuroTalk.

Hi Hon!!

First of all, what is ME? And as far as being a pagan, is that the same thing as being an athiest? Just curious.

I'm not religious myself but I was raised Catholic by the nuns and the priests. DON'T EVEN ASK HOW THAT WENT!!!! lol

Did you plan to become pregant? I know that some gay couples find donors because they want to become parents.

Hope you don't mind the questions.

Welcome to our little corner of the universe.

i cannot post links yet .. it is basically a neurological disorder caused by infection. they do not know what causes it yet or how to treat it unfortunately but it is very life limiting

no, athiests do not believe in god/goddess.. i do. pagan is an unbrealla term covering many diff paths. i am a hedgewitch.

I'm not religious myself but I was raised Catholic by the nuns and the priests. DON'T EVEN ASK HOW THAT WENT!!!! lol

i get the message there lol... and have heard many horror stories
i am not religious either, in fact i do not like religion. i am however spiritually orientated. i find religions on the whole divisive and judgemental

i decided to try to see what happened yes. i got pregnant very fast which surprised me due to age and health etc, i was not sure i could get pregnant. i was led to believe that my donor would co-parent but he turned out to be an idiot and did a runner so unfortunately am left as a single parent. but i do not regret the pregnancy of course. is just hard alone and ill too

Hope you don't mind the questions.

not at all...

Welcome to our little corner of the universe.
Melody
than you !

Hi.
I looked it up. It says that it's Myalgic Encephalomyelitis.

Is this what you've been diagnosed with?

If so, my goodness, you certainly do have your hands full now don't you?

And shame on that guy.

Do you have family support? Friends?

Obviously, at this stage of your life, family and friends are what would be important, right?

I hope they are there for you.

And the hedgewitch thing?

Wow, that's the coolest thing. I've always said (about myself), I'm not religious, but I'm a deeply spiritual person.

I must look into paganism. I don't think I'm a pagan. Not sure about being an athiest.

But Goddess? Now that's something I can appreciate.

lol

yes it is. i cannot post links yet but if you search hummingbird ME on google you will get the best site to describe it

If so, my goodness, you certainly do have your hands full now don't you?

yep lol...

And shame on that guy.

indeed.. but it is his loss. i did not want to be a single parent but this kiddie will be very loved that is for sure. he will be missing its first steps etc.. and he can never get that back can he?

Do you have family support? Friends?

not in my direct family no. my birth parents are pretty abusive so i stay far away, but i do have support from my cousins and aunt even tho they are far away. i have friends yes but seeing as i cannot go out v much i tend to live online. i did go out last night tho lol...

Obviously, at this stage of your life, family and friends are what would be important, right?

yes... i have some good supportive friends, some local some miles away, and i have a lot of online support. i help out and am a memeber of a few forums too.

I hope they are there for you.

And the hedgewitch thing?

basically a solitary witch. i am not wiccan tho. i believe in a creator/ god/ goddess and believe all life is sacred therefore am vegan etc. the hedgewitch bit refers to my interest in herbs for healing etc. i grow a lot of my own stuff for pain and healing, but still need to use some meds because it is illegal here to start producing opium for personal use lol. mind you my dr did tell me to start using cannabis for pain lol but i will not do that pregnant.
being a witch , without boring everyone.. means that i believe that i am responsible for my actions and that every action has a reaction. ie karma... therefore treat others as well as you can. help out, give money to the homeless etc..

witchcraft is very misrepresented. " spells " are basicially directed will and prayers... a prayer is a spell in essence. you direct your wishes and ask for something ( healing, help etc ).. a spell is the same. certainly not the rubbish you read about love spells etc. my basic tenet is " harm none " and for me that includes animals

Wow, that's the coolest thing. I've always said (about myself), I'm not religious, but I'm a deeply spiritual person.

that is nice

I must look into paganism. I don't think I'm a pagan. Not sure about being an athiest.

if you believe in a creator/ high power then technically you are not an atheist. labels are not important really. you believe what you believe and it is up to you if you want to label or define it.

But Goddess? Now that's something I can appreciate.

i have always related to " god " as Goddess... since i was v small.

lol
nice to meet you and thanks for your interest

Well, I find you rather fascinating. You take what you have been dealt with, AND YOU DEAL WITH IT. Many people don't do that. I mean we all have issues (and brother, do you have your share or what!!).

And you said the following:

I believe that i am responsible for my actions and that every action has a reaction. ie karma... therefore treat others as well as you can. help out, give money to the homeless etc..

Well, this is so interesting I ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY, agree with this. I live my life like this.

And the growing of stuff. Well, I grow my own sprouts in my kitchen, and I make soups, and put them in my salads. I have not eaten any beef in YEARS!! and recently made the switch from chicken.

Because I'm diabetic, I need to get my protein so I still eat some fish. But for me, if I could be totally vegan, (well, I'm still pursuing that option). I'm older than you are, but I can still learn, and I definitely apply what I learn.

Let me give you some good news about pain. When you have your baby, and that baby looks up at you, and takes his/her little hand and reaches for your finger, well, you will have such a feeling come over you, let me tell you.

Babies, and their love, well they are very healing. Your brain will release endorphins, and you will feel lovely.

I know, I've been there.

So best of luck and keep taking care of yourself.

Melody
