Welcome to NT I don't know what the white spots would be. I hope it's not a major disease or anything. If it had been really bad, the radiologist would have said something about it. You can have MRIs re-read if you need to. You can have motion artifacts that may show up white. Hopefully someone will come along with more info than I know. ![]() Quote:

Why'd you have the MRI for? Take any reading of your x-rays done at Imaging place with a grain of salt until vertified by another Doctor. My search for answers began with an ENT (I thought dizziness caused by inner ear). Nope he said after testing, he got nothing. Later, my neurologist specialist saw MS in the MRI scans, couldn't believe ENT didn't.

![]() Hi Sally, and welcome to NeuroTalk! We're so glad you found us! ![]() What symptoms were you having to make your ENT send you for an MRI? Was your MRI read by any other kind of doctor? Good luck in your quest for answers, I hope you get some soon.

Hi Sally,
I am awaiting appointment with MD for results from an MRI brain scan and am interested in what white spots mean too. I found this somewhere. It was a Student Dr or something replying to someone's post on another site (I think I just googled white spots on brain) and this was one response. "White spots on the brain can be many different things. Without seeing the films I can not tell you what they are. What a white spot typically represents is an area of scaring. Many things can cause white spots, such as hypertension, diabetes, migraine, inflmmatory disorders, and trauma to name a few. Again, without seeing the films I cannot differentiate these possibilities." Since my tests show I don't have hypertension and diabetes and I don't experience migranes, it leaves inflammatory disorders and trauma or the other few not mentioned by Dr above. Hope there is more information forthcoming. Did you read the recent Psych Central newsletter. There is a good read on it regarding MRI's. http://psychcentral.com/blog/archive...ntally-flawed/ Trying to keep an open mind, HB

my MRI showed "white spots" too, that ended up not being anything to worry about. They had me go to a Dr. to rule out M.S. (scary), which I did, (and she did,) and at that visit, she told me that the white spots showed up on the MRI could be just enhancements because of the contrast dye (I'm assuming you had contrast - a shot during the MRI) entering blood vessels--and she likened them to those red moles people get sometimes. She said it was possible I had had them (I had two) all my life. I'm not saying that's what yours are, but if the doctor said they're nothing to worry about, it could be something that benign. If you're curious you can request your own copy of the MRI and/or report. It's your body. I don't know if that would ease your mind, but it might. I think knowing more is better. Then you could at least have a name other than "white spot"!
Good luck! |
