Default Hello

My name is Shannon. I am 48 years old and have been married for 26 years. I teach Jr. High English and history; although, I have decided to take a year's sabbatical to figure out what is going on with my body. This last year was extremely exhausting and medically challenging. Migrains almost every day and daily mind-numbing exhaustion as well as vision problems made teaching very difficult. Looking for answers in the next 12 months.

My hubby and I have two children, both boys. My 23 year old is finishing up his firefighter training this month and will begin his EMT training in August. He was DX with Tourett's Syndrome and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder at the age of 12. It has been under control for many years until December of '08when he finished up at community college and began job hunting.

My 15 year old is a freshman this year. When he was born he weighed 3 lbs. 3 oz. at full term. He was considered small for gestational age. Turns out I had Grave's Disease and didn't know it. My body attacked the placenta causing it to calcify at around my 7th month. He nearly starved to death in the womb. He has been DX with mild Cerebral Palsy mainly affecting his legs. He is completely ambulatory with only minor difficulties that so far have been addressed with botox injections and 1 surgery just recently.

I was DX with Grave's about 9 months after my 15 year old's birth. Since then I have also been DX with fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, migraine disease, and menopause. I have a tentative DX of myasthenia gravis.

Despite all this I am thankful for each day and consider myself blessed with all the Lord has given me. My motto is: His Grace is Sufficient.

I found this site when trying to find some answers about MG. Thank you for all who have responded to my questions. I look forward to getting to know some of you better and to finding still more answers.

Thank you,
Shannon

Pleased to meet you! You certainly have a lot on your plate, so to speak, but you've come to the right place for support and, hopefully, answers.

I can't imagine the combination of teaching Junior High kids with migraines! Yikes!

Teaching Jr. High kids is wonderful. I absolutely love that age. However, It is really hard when I have a migraine almost every day. I find it interesting to note that since school has been out on May 20th I have only had 4 migraines. Evidently I was far more stressed than I thought.

Hi, I also have migraines and fibromyalgia. Both have been acting up badly
lately. I have found that working through both are working good for me.

I'm doing massage therapy right now, and its helping a lot with my legs.
But sure is painful. I'm hoping that as soon as I start to get my legs to
be less tight it will be less pain. My primary added magnesium oxide
to my meds this week. And I'm hoping it will help.

I also had my gallbladder out in February and its helped my aches and
pains a lot till recently. I suffer from anxiety too. So I'm working through
things.

Yea, therapy can be painful.

Do you have to a spa, hot tub, or even hot showers help, before and/or after.

Are you drinking loooooooootttttsssssssss of water afterwards. You have to do this or it hurts worse. I know this from experience. I've had it both ways. I loooooove PEPSI... Pepsi is worth the pain. I can't help myself. But I do know there's a difference in how it effects my rebounding from therapy/massages/deep tissue, trigger points, releases or exercising, the same applies. Inhale water, my friend.

...it does get easier

Broken Wings

I've been icing them for the times after for weeks. And I always drink lots
of water.

I am starting to try and get back to the fitness club and will be working
on getting into the pool and hot tub.

I really think that will help. Its a outdoors pool in these months though
so that makes it a pain. We are getting lots of rain right now.

So I have heat things too.
