Default Ayurveda for PD

I've stopped taking REQUIP LP 6 months ago (could not endure the horrible side effects anymore for very little benefices )

I did Mucuna (kappi kachu) for a few months and found myself a bit better and def more "me"

Two month ago, I met Dr Paneri in Zurich ,an ayurvedic doc with PD specialty

He sends his treatment through mail
All herbs are grown & prepared in his Property

Since 3 weeks,my neverending fatigue & exhaustion has drastically diminished

I wanted to sharre this link about PD & Ayurveda treatment
what i found interesting is they classify 3 categories for PD

http://www.aapna.org/Kampa%20Vata.pdf

you can buy most herbs & oils at "la boutique bio"
(reliable,cheap & organic )
or at Banyan supplements

cheers

ever try sinemet? main effective ingredient in mucana is l-dopa, same as in sinemet. that's just my opinion.

No,i never had sinemet.....only dopaminergic agonists, like trivastal & requip which made me sicker than better
I prefer to get levadopa in an herbal/natural way rather than synthetic
what i forgot to mention is that Ayurvedic treatment for PD goes with a diet:
basically :

no yeast (bye bye bread,cakes & beer !! :- )
no raffinated sugar (honey is ok )
no alcohol
no beans (except fava beans & Mung beans )
no pineapple,no pears,no plums
no peanuts
no red meat (vegetarian if possble is better )
stay away from canned food & canned fruit juices (fresh juices are ok )

Ayurveda and chinese medicine consider that there is too much Air/Wind in our bodies (that's why we are shaking )
to get that Air away, one of the things to do is to apply sesame oil or mustard oil all over the body every day ,keep it for 30 mn then take a shower

voila...!

Default Mucuna (not 'mucana') claimed to treat PD without causing dyskinesia

Mucuna pruriens is NOT the same as Sinemet.

Quote from the Abstract of Lieu et al.: "The distinctive neurophysiological findings in the basal ganglia and the ability to ameliorate parkinsonism without causing dyskinesias strongly suggest that Mucuna pruriens acts through a novel mechanism that is different from that of [l-dopa]."

- 2012, "Antiparkinsonian and Antidyskinetic Effects of Mucuna pruriens in the MPTP-Treated Non-human Primate"

take whatever you want, do whatever you want. i've tried MP, maybe helped a little but sure a lot easier taking a carbidopa/levodopa pill.

if you want to do more than regurgitate what's on that paper, which by the way did not involve humans and administered a MP filtrate, not straight MP, and by IV or injection to make sure they knew how much the monkeys got so has very little to do with the MP you or i would take, then i'd be glad to debate the merits of that paper. i think the authors highly exaggerate the results and will gladly debate that opinion if you want to initially give me 3 reasons their results absolutely show MP out of the bag works better than sinement with less side affects in humans.

if course they are different, my point was are the benefits/side affects that much different. i think the jury is out on that, a lot of people asking about MP, citing papers, internet testimonials but i have to ask, where's the beef?

people will readily ingest MP, no idea whether the % active ingredient listed is correct, where it's been grown, what the quality control is, etc. thinking it's safer than a carbidopa/levodopa pill?
to me, that's the same as going back to willow bark because your're afraid of aspirin?
