This is a great review or 'State of research' article on both AD and PD. It emphasizes importance of getting both under control as a public health issue, so it seeks to find common ground. There is a look again at the role of iron.
Ultimately, it looks like our best defense at this point is calories restriction and exercise. This also gibes with others who have noted significant reduction of symptoms and lowering of med dosages with vigorous, daily exercise. The best part is the article is free full-text. No doubt about it, daily, vigorous exercise to get your heart rate up to 60-70% of your 'OWN ZONE" is critical. Exercise is medicine. It requires a life style change and commitment. It makes you both physically and mentally healthier, increases your energy level thus makes you more productive, slows down disease progression and can alleviate some common symptoms. At least it does for me.
