I have really noticed a lessening of muscle pain since I started to eat fava beans (called broad beans in Britain). Does anyone know how much L Dopa they contain in, say, 100g? I have really no idea of the portions I should eat and when. I would appreciate any input. Thankyou, Ladybird.

Sorry, Aunt Bean has not been on computor for a while....I just hop on for a second and check to see if there are any personal messages I need to answer. The tiny bean pods, yes pods, and the bean sprouts seem to have the most l-dopa . Ken Allan has the most specifics on it and I learned from him (great source of info!) My fava top tincture has been tested and has about 1 mg natural l-dopa in two small drops. About 8 drops is a good dose for me and I take it 4 to 6 times a day. Ends up about 1 1/2 teaspoons per day.
Along with the fermented papaya chips...I'm still dancing and singing and playing music....good enough for me. Enjoying life and gardening about an acre of land If you soak beans overnight and rinse 3 times a day for three days ..then soak them in water and peel them/ then rinse again/ then steam them for 8 minutes and eat plain or add to stir fry with garlic & onions....YUM (had some for lunch today..a real treat) This to me is the best way to eat them and garlic and onions are immune builders...who doesn't need that??? Blessings......Aunt Bean |

Ladybird, Have you tried fava juice made from pods only (no beans)? I'm sure the pods provide a nice compliment ofenzymes and other helpful constituents that aid in uptake and digestion of levadopa. I order a 40lb box (fresh favas in season in spring) at my local grocery store, remove the beans, juice the pods and frreeze in ice cube trays or small jelly jars. A coupleof ice cubes a day or more keeps me happy! hire a housekeeper for help if need be.. or.... you can buy the fava juice online. md

My goodness! That's a lot of great info.
I just bought some fresh (but mature) fava beans from the farmer's market today. I guess it's safe to just add them to the other veges I'll cook them with without any problem. This was timely information, thank you so much. Quote:

The pods actually have more l-dopa than the inside beans do...that is probably all you need to make fava juice from...save the beans and enjoy with onions and garlic stir fried! Yummy
