Default Am I the only one.....

Every time I try to use exercise to control PD with exercise, I need more sinemet. I feel very well after the exercise, but am stuck with severe symptoms at the end of the day.

same here, definitely have to be optimally medicated with sinemet, my only medication. otherwise riding my recumbent is way too "jerky" and uncomfortable. this was made obvious to me after i got my bike home, worked great at the store and since i was "out" was well medicated, but when i got it home and tried it thought it was defective since i couldn't peddle smoothly. duh! of course this applies to all vigorous exercise.

feel better after an hr on the bike, maybe 65rpm avg, but short lived benefit, maybe an hr afterward.

we'll definitely know how well the forced exercise helps and what type of pd'ers are helped after the 100patient clinical trial is completed. but regardless, amazing amount of pd research going on.

In April 2011 Jan White invited me to visit Grand Haven to make two presentations on Pedaling for Parkinson's. She didn't know if there would be 15 or 50 people there, but she was so persuasive and so sincere that on a trip I was already making to Michigan I rented a car and drove from Ann Arbor to Grand Haven to give the talks. We estimated that 150 people came. Holly, from Generation Care, and other community leaders were there. The director of the YMCA arranged for a reporter. I was overwhelmed by the community service attitude displayed by all the partners. The patient, not profit or recognition, was the primary focus of all who were involved in putting the Pedaling For Parkinson's program together.

Grand Haven was one of the first Licensed PFP programs in the nation. Obviously they have followed through with the same commitment I saw 1.5 years ago. Congratulations to all!
