Default Thanks!

Thanks for the interest in our research. My husband was diagnosed with PD a year and a half ago and I convinced two researchers who were working on algorithms for predicting combinatorial therapies for complex diseases - to work on PD. After a year of hard work the machine has finally made its first prediction on a combination of two substances that has the best probability of slowing the progression of PD.

These are predictions only - we are making no claims. And just to clarify, we are not selling anything. But as requested, the researchers have found actual existing commercial products to recommend - and wrote full instructions on their use. You can find these products anywhere. We are all volunteers and the project is funded by donations. No, you may not donate, and we are not looking for volunteers or participants. Any questions?

Where's the evidence that any of the curcumin products pass thru the human BBB as claimed by that web page? not saying not to take curcumin but i haven't found any proof, seems tough to prove without radioactively tagged molecules.

so you don't get a commission if someone clicks on an amazon.com link on your website? i see lots of websites tauting this as a way to make money, embedding amazon links.

I will ask one of the researchers about your BBB question, but I would be surprised if one of the references didn't cover it adequately. Did you check them?

Regarding the Amazon question, I WISH the amazon product links generated significant money. It's my job in the project to raise funds and I would LOVE it if that were true. We are burning through $1000 a week just to keep the system running! But we have many other expenses. I think the Amazon links made less than $10 so far. Mostly we use it because the WP plugin makes it easy to add and it lets us track how many people click and buy, and at what ratios. *admin edit*

i checked the LONGIVADA(?) website, couldn't find anything about crossing human BBB, just animal. but i'm just human, could have missed something.
you are spending $52,000/year on just computer services? would you be more specific? do you have non-profit status?

Soccertease,

It's a pity you're not as quick off the mark to comment on Glaxo who've been fined 490 million for bribery.

Here's the comment from one of our researchers:

Due to the structure of native curcumin, the consensus in the research community is that it will enter and accumulate in the human brain as easily as it does the mouse brain. Of course almost all of our interest in plant-based substances comes from epidemiological, ethnobotanical and animal studies. Human clinical studies are just too expensive and the brain makes it even more challenging. Don't forget, these are predictions, not claims. We use the machine learning algorithms and network analyses to make predictions based on available data. As the data improves, so do the predictions.
