Is there anyone out there that can tell me some of the changes in Parkinson's patients regarding lack of feeling, sexual behavior, addiction. My spouse was a workaholic and now he is even worse. Any suggestions?

It can cause compulsive behavior in some people, like gambling, sexual /pornography addictions, and such.

Yes, he does take Mirapex and another one. I know he is having sexual problems because it has ruined our marriage.

You should ask his dr to try another medication.
Is the other one Carbidopa/levodopa (Sinemet)?

Often meds will need to be adjusted every so often, and one may not work and may create more side effects than anything.


Is his dr a PD specialist? Is the dr aware of these side effects?
They can't help if they don't know of the problems.

Yes that is the other medication that he takes. the doctor is a neurologist. I don't go with him to his appointments and I am not sure if he is open to sharing this with her. It did ruin our marriage because his behavior is so opposite of him. It is like I don't even know who he is anymore. He almost acts as though he wants me to walk away and be happy. He has been buying things more than normal, sexual urges, and he does exercise but I have notice he has gained weight. When we went on a vacation recently, he had to eat every time we stopped. Just not quite sure how to help. Are there other better meds? It sounds like Mirapex is addictive itself?

He use to take Ropinerole and it didn't seem to work so he changed.

If you are still married , your should be able to call the dr and let her know what is going on, then she might suggest he come in and talk about med options.

I go in with my parents to dad's PD appts, I'm the driver and helper.

We stopped Mirapex for a short time due to hallucinations/anxiety , but dad was very weak without it, so dr added back the lowest amount, and that seems to be working well so far.

What age is your husband?
