Default Smiling away!

Thanks, Thelma

Yes, I am smiling. Cutting off all my hair was pretty hard on my vanity, and slitting four places on my head (2 near my crown and 2 on my fprehead), tooo attach screws they so cleverly call "bone markers" then closing up the slits with two staples - well, let's just say I had the best Halloween costume in town. LOL

This Wed. I need thoughts and prayers all day long. I have to be off PD meds 12 hours (yikes!) and stay AWAKE for this surgery. They are looking for correct placement of the probes to alleviate the symptoms. Still another stage and programming to go. I shoould be at least 70 by the time I am finished (kidding)

Thanks for asking. I will get back to you if I survive this next surgery (pun not intended)
Peg

I spoke with Peggy today and this remarkable woman is in amazingly excellent spirits. She can hardly wait for tomorrow, all positive and upbeat! She's still calling out for prayers, so lay it on.

I've had some email correspondence with Peggy a few weeks ago. I don't think she'll mind if I share her comments on how she is recovering:

Gary - I am fine but not great; thanks for asking. I'm recovering from DBS, a therapy that I undertook to hopefully help improve my horrible dyskinesia and dystonia. Well, it did indeed do that, but the doctor says I have to be patient, because now I'm having trouble walking. This is my fault as I tried to cut my meds back too quickly . I'm trying to be patient, but it's difficult, and may take up to 6 months.

Here is Peggy's reply to my email ( sent on 3/3/16) asking how she is doing.

girija
Something went wrong. I don't know for sure, but I believe it had to do with my trying to come off my meds too quickly, and now I can't find the combination to get back.

I am now going to give the extended carbidopa/ levodopa - Rtary- a try. I start next week.

I'm always trying to circumvent the " known" way.

You can post this at NeuroTalk if you want.
Thx for asking

Peggy
