Hi Curious,

How long has your father had PD? If you can get him and your mom to post we'll go real easy on them with you being a mod and all.....lol......

paula
edited to add to yam since i just saw him/her:

I was writing a darn good message defending Harley when the forum literally went down.

Default What did I miss?

Ok, I was out of the picture for a while, but I just don't know what happened at BT1 and why you're all talking about not going back and all that. I thought there had been a regular computer crash, but as I pick up a remark here and a statement there, it seems that some of the regulars were banned for some dumb reason or other. NOW THIS IS SOME JUICY GOSSIP and I'm clueless!

Would anybody please explain? Is BT2 a rebel spin-off? I used to like BT1, but I guess I never knew what went on backstage. I'm just sorry that many of our old pals will never find us here. I miss so many, i.e. Andrew, Cow John Gillespie, Fred Hey Taxi, LindyLanka, Vicky Perry, Mireille, just to name a few...

And another thing: how come y'all don't use avatars anymore?

Default I'm staying here!

I have to budget my computer time or I turn into a block of cement. The new E&R rule cuts into my day too (see exercise thread). Teresa, if you go back to the beginnings of this forum you'll find some discussion threads that will tell you a lot. Gotta find my avatar to post it...no time yet to hang my picture on the wall. I think a few of the names you mentioned are here...I know Lindy is.

The google links to our old posts do not work, so it seems the archive is gone.

Save those google cached pages now, while they're still available, if you value them.

I'm staying here.

Hi,
I AM here, but have just registered at BT1 again too. I am here I suppose because of all you people who have given so much friendship and support for so long are here, and I am there because that's where I met you all, and some people I think will still go there....... and because I have a long history there. And maybe also because there is that thing about it being a neuro board primarily. Anyway, I don't feel like choosing one over the other.

Teresa, I will email Andrew, I know he posted on Ricks site, but I have not seen him here. There were others from the UK too, but I am useless with names.

I don't think we should forget that there were literally hundreds of lurkers, and that the active discussions were useful to them too - anyone remember the huge amount of hits that every thread got? And maybe some of those lurkers will be people who were very active once but now are no longer able to contribute in the same way because of pd progression. I can think of many people who once were very active but disappeared from view. I'd like to bet that some of them willl still be logging in from time to time to see how people are......

And maybe the discussions about the issues on the old board will have raised some very fundamental questions about the way it was being moderated......

Love to you all
Lindy

Default Teresa...

You mean you are cluelesss of went on "over there"
Well, first HI LINDY . Next i'm gonna tell it like it was no holds barred.
And i will only talk about what happened to me, I won't bring Yam into this.
First, someone from our forum notices a newpaper article about a "PWP" who lost her husband in a fire that took away eveything she had. That someone then posts to say "hey kids look at this ;pretty sad huh,? I found out a forwarding address and if you want to throw a few bucks her way to help (as there was no insurance) please feel to do so.
Innocent and thoughtful and courageous in itself huh? Well, this didn't sit well with one of the moderators who, after stating with more than a tad of condescension that this was "solicitation" and as such was not allowed on BT. When the initial poster said (essentially) "well sorrreeee, just thought i'd try to help one of us in great need", the moderator "reminded" the poster that this could be some kind of scam. The moderator stated that it could be either the poster, or the originator of the article's content who was "scamming" for money. Well, the inuendo that the poster who is well known around here for many years, was trying to scam us was too much to take (another poster even verified the newspaper article), and said (essentially) "I am not scamming, what the hell is wrong with you dear moderator; i'd do this for any one of you). Well, that was enough for the moderator, whose identity we don't know, to just ban the poster (Forever! BTW) using some bogus reason like " solicitation; against BT rules". SEveral of us thought this extremely unreasonable, making BT's rules look like some kind of communist manifesto, having no rights to free speach, and "banning" allowed under circumstances of not even knowing who it was that was banning you.
I came forward and said (essentially) "not only does this really stink, someone having the power to rule so heavily on one of us, hiding under JL's coattails with the autocratic power of anonymity, but just look around you, what do you see? Anybody want a mug or something? Support BT, contribute now. I pointed this as being hypocritical how only ONE person on this site was allowed to solicit for a good cause, namely JL.
That got me banned (forever), for "openly disagreeing with a moderator". In other words, anonymous moderator don't like you, moderator laugh oh so funny I CAN BAN YOUR SORRY *** ANYTIME, AND YOU CAN'T DO A DAMN THING ABOUT IT. HAWHAWHAWHAHA (middle finger).
That is what happened, from my point of view. Any comments welcome, but lets not obsess over it , it's water under the bridge now. Fugetaboutit!
I am you and you are me and you are we and we are all together. Know where that came from?

Default Irate fisherman/carpenter much appreciated

Thanks, Steve, for coming to my defense, not for the first time and probably not the last. All I know is that you did, but I don't know what for, because ever since I read about his many identities in Community & Forum Feedback and his record of disruption (in this board last month) I've had him on my Ignore List, so I don't see his post, above. (For general info: To put someone on ignore, click on his/her name, go to their public profile, and click on "ignore list" on the blue bar below their name and pictures/avatars.)

When Lavenderluv was completely unreasonably banned on BT1 you wrote of how it was good that the Moderators protected you. You obviously don't care about injustice. Your compassionate facade was proven to be entirely fake. It obviousy didn't matter to you that she was very wrongly treated.

"Disruption" is a word that the intolerant use to describe anyone that doesn't agree with everything they say.
