Chris, Requip helps my fatigue - it helps almost too much at times, it makes me feel as if I'm running on a battery that is hard to shut down. That was my immediate reaction to it, now six years ago, and the battery is still running. I do have to sit down and rest during the day, often several times, but only for short rests, before I'm up and going again. Often I get so exhausted that I know I'll be sick if I don't rest, but even then, after a little lie-down, I feel fine again. I don't know if Requip has the same effect on everyone, but it certainly energizes me.
Jeanb - what a nasty fall. I hope you mend quickly. Best wishes to you. All the best, birte |

Another bad reaction to another statin drug, and my muscles still feel so weak I'm struggling again. I'm never taking another one, I don't care what the docs say. All my other blood values are fine except the cholesterol, and that's because the sinemet elevates my homocysteine levels. Back to folic acid supplements for me!

Hello Jaye, I noticed there are a number references to taking statin drugs in several different posts over the past few days. for anyone interested in further researching the potential adverse effects of statins, please access dr. duane graveline's web site: www.spacedoc.net
(the spacedoc refers to his former training as a physician NASA astronaut.

I had a pretty busy week too -- attended the Udall Centers meeeting in Pittsburgh. It was a very interesting and challenging few days, and I picked up a lot about the new research that is going on. Most of what was presented was pre-clinical in nature -- cell microbiology, genetics, etc. -- but there were other areas discussed too. I think we've got a lot to anticipate in new therapies, but it wasn't clear that any of them will become available in less than 10-15 years.

Hi:
Just got back from an Elderhostel in Corning, New York. Three topics were discussed; the Dead Sea Scrolls, Islam and the aging brain. All of the presenters knew their stuff. I was most interested in the aging brain and how to care for it. We were given a number of exercise routines as well as some take home exercises. It's interesting that some of the exercises, while not intended specifically for Parkinson's are similar to those that I've been using for the past few years or so. Got a good bibliography and will order some of them for my personal library. Also got some notes covering all three topics. If you are not familiar with Elderhostel then you are probbly not old enough (I think the minimum age is 55 years). I returned home with some renewed plan to fight this old thing or, at least, to slow it down. All the best, Lloyd |

We arrived home yesterday afternoon at the end of a 3-week RV driving odessey to the Pacific Northwest. The primary purpose was to visit with our son and grandson who recently moved to Seattle. Our son now is a service dispatcher for Seattle Light, and our grandson is a high school freshman who spent the summer here with us while his dad was getting set up in Seattle. While there I talked to Harley/Laura on the phone. She lives across Puget Sound on the Kitsap peninsula. I had hoped that we could get together with her, but ran out of time.
We had a great time, saw many wondrous sights, and put almost six thousand miles on our RV. It is good to be back and back in touch with the folks here on NT. Robert btw, I experienced no significant PD problems, just kept up with meds. |
