Default ATTENTION: Weekly Check In Thread

Hello Everyone..I, after much thought, over the span some time have been seriously thinking about stepping down as the host of the Weekly Check In Thread..The only reason why I have not done it sooner, is because I think it is a great asset to the community, and for the good of the community I have continued on with it..But I have found myself at the crossroads with it once again, and I feel like Ive done my tour of duty..I have been postng the thread for about four years now, and I have run out of ways to re-invent myself..Every week after I write it, I read it before I submitt it, and it is just too repetitious, and I can only attribute that to be honest, to a lack of interest and enthusiasm, and like I mentioned previously, my bag of re-invention tricks is empty..So, I sincerely hope that someone steps up to the plate, if only temporarily, untill a permenant host appears, to carry on this valuable tradition

I have grown through the experience, and there just arent any words to describe the abundance..The experience, and the priviledge has been priceless, and as a result Ive gotten to know, and meet many of you folks, who have become precious friends..When I was dx, it was here that I learned that life does go on after pd, and it has, and it will continue to..I want to thank each and every one of you who have contributed to the tapestry of my life, as it relates to living with, understanding, accepting, getting involved in, and passing on what you all have taught me about Parkinsons to others in need and despair..You have been my rock!..Whenever I have reached my hand out to, or dealt with one of my own personal experiences..you folks have always been a part of it in the background..I couldnt have gotten this far with out you..and I have a long way to go, and for that I am eternally indebted to you all!

And a special Thank You for all who have contributed, and those who have been avid weekly followers

cmon you guys...this has been an ongoing thing for how long?? surely someone can pick up the bat. steve has done the weekly check in thread for four years now. prior to that Jaye had the helm for four years. both of them have put alot of effort into it, and it would be sad to think that not even one person is interested in continuing on with it.

Default let change take its course

Don't worry about this weekly check in. It's not written in stone that there even has to be one, it's just become a nice tradition. We all have our ups and downs and no-one probably wants to make a committment. We all get weary of even this place and take a few weeks off from time to time. You know the old saying 20% of the crew do 80% of the rowing....or something like that.
If someone wants to make it happen then it will be. If not, then so be it.

One day at a time

I agree with Rosebud...these things take time..maybe someone will eventually make the commtment; in the meantime, no guilt Steve. You have perfectly valid and understandable reasons. I just hope you still post here.

Ya, Stevie, what's with the guilt? The "check in " was nice but as curious said "let time take it's course. If any one of us have the urge to in general tell us how they are doing, i think that they will. "You are absolved from your duty, my son". Now just sit back and relax, like the rest of us,LOL, cs

That guilt is one of my great virtues Chuck....Just kidding..Its just that I have this thing about not finishing what I started, but maybe I did finish it, but just not the way I had in mind..In a perfect world, or in mine anyway, I was hoping to pass it on to some reletively newly dx parkie, so that maybe that person could reap some of the benefits that I have from it..When I look back over the past four years of writing that thread every week, as a direct result I got to meet some really special people, because it was the path to getting to know them..Ive made some very special friendships..and yours is one of them..
This forum has taken me to places I never thought I would have gone..Ohhhhhh..Damn it..Im just a sentemental old fool...lol

Steve (everyone) what about a monthy check in?

Some of our forums do that. An ongoing chit chat thread for the month.

Or maybe a bi-weekly

Oh damn, it was always interesting and fun to read, as personal posts generally are. I starting looking forward to each Sundays up-dates on the recent adventures of Harley and Steve. I love stories about people's lives. I respect you may want to get out of the limelight or make changes in your life. Thanks for all that you gave.

Dear Steve,
I have always so appreciated this thread just in concept alone, not to mention particulars. I find, though, that I can get so swamped in just trying to have a coherent daily life, and do everything I'm supposed to do, and I find that I go way in and out about how vulnerable I feel at any given moment about my own process, and how much I feel I can lay out there especially for many unidentified and shadowy readers (not that I blame people for not posting - I'm just saying....) - anyway, I haven't posted on this one as much as I have appreciated its existence.

But whatever happens with it, the fact that it HAS existed has created an enduring community already. SO you have done a fantastic job that will not be rendered irrelevant just because it doesn't continue in its present form. And I thank you.
