It was too much to handle at my age, too many strenuous situations on the water, too much hard work, and repairs. It was either an apt or a motor boat, and that had its own repair & engine problems, and still had the weather against me. An apt., with a mgmt co. to handle any problems so's I could relax & enjoy.... is best at this time in my life. I loved sailing, but if I only had better health, strength, and stamina ..........

Thanks, Bob. I was very anxious this summer, and also for my hubby. He is so good with boats, and where we are, it is really hard to dock with the huge rocks everywhere. One mistake and kablooey!
This year he fixed up the boat hook with a slip knot to loop over the dock posts so we could grab them quickly. We have a short loop attached to frame of the boat for quick docking and leaving but it is not safe for high winds/high waves. It worked really well as long as a second person was there to help with the lines. But I noticed his reflexes were slower this year. He has never been a quick type mover...but this year I noticed a change. So it won't be long we won't be using that property like before. I am sad to say this, but our times are a changing too. It was bad for the other cousins up there, even with their docks being in less exposed waters. One night hubby actually moved his smaller boat to one of their empty ones! (that family had left). We saw them earlier use 4 tries to dock one day. We still manage the first attempt, but it is really hard as we are EXPOSED.
