Default Pain Clinic Woes...

Well so far not so good. The doctor at the clinic wanted me to gradually get off the pain medication and start taking a higher does of Lyrica and take a shot at getting an injection in my back to block the sympathetic nerve. I had the injection on Friday, and lets just say it was one of those times that I wish I had been too short to go on the ride. Talk about painful and guess what; last night was brutal, my feet were burning so bad and I must have gotten 2 hrs of sleep. Today has been a little better but my feet are burning up again at night. It almost as if the injection ****** something off in my back which turned the oven up. So is this good news or bad news? Does this mean something in my lower back is creating the burning sensation?? I still have to get an MRI done of my back, so all is not lost yet. But if the burning increase does not go away, I'm going to be one ****** off camper....

Have you tried an ice pack on your back? Sometimes cold therapy turns the nerves off.

20 minutes tops, and twice a day or so. Don't overdo it.

Thanks for the idea, but i have. Typically I use a cold pack on my feet and back at night. The coldness on my feet is the only relief i can get so far. But that usually only lasts a good 10 mins or so. And then its cold pack #2.

Have you tried soaking in Epsom Salts and Luke warm water? Also Alkaseltzer switches the burning off for me, just for around 30 mins but enough to get to sleep at night.
Good luck.
