I've just been reading through all the freezing cold posts... and thinking how snuggly warm I feel... and we had an earthquake. Not such a consolation, but it sure wakes us up!
![]() I posted it on my Facebook page for my cousins and family back east, and one cousin freaked out... said we would be swallowed up by the earth, or fall off into the sea! ![]() ![]() I've lived in California for over 30 years now, I've ridden out two major quakes and over 30 minor ones... I'm a native now. I don't miss the cold after reading all your posts, and after 30 years, I don't miss the family so much either! I go home every few years for family reunions and that fills my need. ![]() Bless you all and I hope you stay warm and healthy through this winter. I have enough trouble keeping my feet warm here where it never snows, I don't know how I would survive there!!!!!! ![]()

Bob our storm was overrated. We got about 5 inches, and the wind is not that bad. We are getting some protection from the lake to the east as far as low temps go. It usually doesn't reach us, but it is this time. hmm.
Seams.....I could not keep my composure in an earth quake. I would be wild.

We do have earthquakes in colder states too, we just don't usually realize it. When my daughter was a baby, we had one in Michigan, and it shook my house...I thought someone was dynamiting rocks in their field. Later on the news they told us it was an earthquake.
I do not want either, the earthquakes, the cold, or even the tornatoes. Don't want much, do I? My daughter flew home yesterday, and I was a wreck with all the recent plane happenings. Her flight from here to Chicago was late leaving, because the plane coming back from Chicago was delayed...then her flight in Chicago for Detroit was delayed because of the snow there. They had to load 2 planes worth of people onto one plane, which required a longer runway, and they had to wait for it to be plowed open. She was to be in Detroit at 4:10 and got there at 4:55. I'm just glad she is off the planes. ![]()

A 45 min delay ? Heck, that's considered 'on-time' the way things have been going lately.

And not letting up anywhere it seems.
Deb? I'm glad your daughter got home and safely to boot! These days, it's always a strangly iffy proposition for unknown reasons..... About the weather and the earth? Well, it's gonna change and 'vibrate' and surprise us, never doubt that! BUT, this is one aspect we cannot change as individuals, other than COPE. The best approach is to 'compensate' and chillout as we really can't CHANGE this stuff! But we can RESPECT IT? My dear Shiney Sue? No, complaining doesn't get any results? Tho constant points of CONCERN to your docs should....I won't elaborate on that, I believe you know my feelings on this subject. Positive complaining? It is an ART! It is undocumented and ignored, but it is useful... Consists mainly of the 'good things'? Then a big 'BUT' or 'HOWEVER'... I've found the 'What about This or THAT' to be the best approaches--gotta get all 'ON' your side somehow, any which way you do it tho, it's like meds? There is always a 'price to pay'. Soo, do be careful, please! As for snow these days? I am sooo frustrated that I'm not stable enuf to help shovel or ANYTHING! I Must get more stable and strong just to get around, and then DO MORE! It's essential to plain old living! I'm improving daily tho, w/exercise and use, and haven't teetered to badly too much of late! Honestly, walking IS a GIFT we take for granted, until we can't. Then we must relearn it. It's a pain in the ***** but, it's necessary so you don't have more pain the *****!!! Hugs and hope to all! - j ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Hey, it looks like we're in for a warm-up this week, at least in Pittsburgh! Which usually means that you folks somewhere in the Midwest are now or soon to be seeing it, and the Easterners might feel it by the weekend. Still cold here, but at least we've be seeing some random rays of sunshine the past few days.
As for flying, believe it or not, I haven't flown since before 9/11. We are going for a long weekend to Florida in a few weeks, so it will be an experience, plus, now that I have the titanium hip, I'll get to see if I set the metal detector off. |

Over 20 is a heat wave for us, and over 30 comes when we get what we refer to as a January Thaw, which is really a figment of our imagination but we get kinda psychotic in the winter, and think things are thawing....like a mirage. We are due to get a few days over freezing...then back to the 20 to -20 range....we have a long way to go....light at the end of the tunnel is St. Patty's day.
At least we did not get a 6.5 earthquake! Heh, heh, my sister just moved out there.... I will take the cold over the earth moving under my feet. The only time the earth moved under my feet was when I was in love, or had an attack of vertigo (which I had recently-gosh that sucked.) ![]() Well given how cold Europe and China are, I hope we did not mess up the Thermohaline Current with all that glacial melt. We will be in for an ice age then....ugh. Moving south won't help much....poor oranges look so bad.

All right, cycleops, that's the second time you've given me an ear worm--the first time was when you started the booger discussion and I heard Jethro Tull in my head singing "snot is running down his nose, greasy fingers smearing shabby clothes" for three days! Now I'm gonna be hearing Carole King singing "I feel the earth move under my feet, I feel the sky tumbling down..." for who knows how long.
