I think I'm always subconsciously aware of potential for imbalance. When I go out, I always use a cane, and am uncomfortable without it.

Around the house I don't use the cane much, but it is necessary to clean the walls about 4' off the ground on occasion - the result of my hands gliding along them in an unconscious effort to maintain balance.
