Default Ode to the Ham

Ode to the Easter Ham

The beauty of the table, the great Easter Ham
now, sitting in a crock pot, bean soup, I am.
I once was ham sandwiches and Potatoes Au'Grautin,
I suppose this is good, I don't want to get rotten.
But the eggs are all eaten, the candy all hoarded.
The cellophane grass is all over the floor and baseboarded. (OK literary license)
The baskets are back in basement storage,
The cook is now guiltily swallowing omega 3 with flax and borage.
One more holiday passed with neuropathy,
and the crazy lady is still live and kicking, oh, hallejuaheeeee!

On to Beltane! The next reason to party.

Have a good day!

Default Absolutely Excellent!

Our own PN Poet Laureate?

Good thing about the ham tho? Not one bit was wasted! Bravo...

BTW? When is Beltane? Next? Can't keep all these factoids in order anymore.

's as always - j

Oh Bob, I would never stick you in a crock pot with beans!

But you are a ham!!

Beltane is May 1st, but in the interest of eccumenical harmony, here is the entire list of feasts....I am sure one can find some reason to celebrate, eat and then feel guilt over our indulgence and hedonism.

(Way too much time on my hands....happens with mobility issues. I am the factoid queen.)

I will be eating bean soup for quite a while....big ham...real big ham.

We chunked a lot, and froze in baggies the right size- to make Mac & Cheese casseroles. I love Mac & cheese with good chunks of ham in it.
We just nuke 'em and pop 'em in the oven with elbow mac & cheddar. Makes a whole dinner for the 2 of us.(and a little left over)

Chef Bob! I think we need a thread with Bob's recipes and handy kitchen tips!! Perhaps you have a new career in the bloom!

I actually bit for an electric jar opener.....I always thought it was a dumb appliance.....hmm. With my floppy hands, it works pretty well for me. That and a mini chopper.

We had SNOW on the lawn today...it is almost melted, but, I KNEW it would get cold again.....fooooooo, foooooo, fooooooo. Back inside from my garden and back to the basement to make soap, until the sunshines again....cr@ppy midwest weather. (grumble under breath) I KNEW it was too good to be true. (grumble more under breath).

If I didn't like trees and water so much, Vegas would be an option.

it was 90 here yesterday, it really felt good. not as warm today but still very nice. i hope we have a nice warm spring and long summer after this winter and last summer.

i never knew there were electric jar openers. If i get a tough one i hook a can opener under the lid to just break the vacuum seal without bending the lid.
