Default Probiotic Acidophilus

I went to the health store yesterday and looking for vitamins and probiotic that I can take, and notice they had Probiotic Acidophilus. I have seen this name before (don't know if it was on this site or not) but the man told me this was good. It was a chewable tablet. He said that if you don't like the sugar in yogurt or yougurt itself this would be good to take.

Also the Vitamin B 12. I noticed they have 1000 and 5000 (don't remember if it was mg. or mcg.) I do eat meat so I just wonder where it would be good to start out. And if it would be mg. or mcg. I am guessing maybe the mcg. form is liquid but really don't know.

Thanks Trish

Each probiotic lists the number of organisms on the bottle.
The higher quality ones have several different ones in them, and not just one. Also the better ones are in the refrigerator most of the time.

There are plain yogurts that don't have high sugar content in them. You can get the plain one and add stuff to it to spruce it up for your own taste.
There is even one at Kroger's called Carbmaster with only 4 grams of sugar!

Without knowing your B12 level, it is hard to say what to do.
If you have neuro symptoms, I'd start at 5mg a day of B12 on an empty stomach. You will respond much faster that way. B12 is not toxic and has no high upper limit listed for it.

Probiotic: lists the number of organism on the bottle, definitely will be checking for it, did not know this information.

B 12: I would have to check my last year medical records for it. Was dx. sensorimotor polyneuropathy and even taking medicine for it, and I know it is getting worse. If you have this neuro. problem does it mean that you are low on vitamin B 12 automatically.

Just thinking out loud, I guess I am going to have to introduce these things slowing and see if it will work for me. The probiotic seems to be a good start.
Thank you so much for the information about it. Trish

As far as B12 is concerned, it doesn't hurt to start to take it now.
Levels below 600 are considered deficient
(used to be considered 'normal' at 400-600)

Try to get sub lingual METHYL-cobalamin, not cyano-cobalamin, as the
methyl form is more readily absorbed.
I use sub-lingual lozenges from Jarrow (@iherb).
Relatively inexpensive at about 5-7 cents per tab.

Thanks Bob for the information. I hate buying things and can't take it, so I am trying to get the information. But I am learning sometimes you just have to give it a try even though you may not be able to keep taking it. Eventually maybe something will help, trial, error thing. Just don't want to many errors.

Thanks again, Trish
