Default New symptoms...opinions?

Hi guys.

I have some different symptoms, thought I would share and see if anyone has opinions, if this means anything, or means its getting worse.

Usually my toes would burn, only my toes.

Now, its weird. The very tips of my four little toes will be cold, but only the tips, and the rest of the toe is hot and on fire, along with my big toe and pads of my feet.

It's very odd. Even my husband could touch them and feel the tips cold while everything else is on fire.

I have a horrid feeling this means things are getting worse.

Flares are still only at night but tonights really bad. Nothing helping, epsom bath, icy hot, supplements.

Any opinions are welcome, even if it's bad news for me.

have you been ruled out for MS stacy?

What supplement/treatment protocol are you on?

I would try the magnesium lotion, now available at WalMart for $5.98! Morton's brand Epsom lotion. The price of it is 1/2 of the CVS that was discontinued, and it is working well for me.

If you are having some vasoconstrictive issue, affecting only some of your feet, a topical will penetrate better than oral. I think the lotion is better than the soaking in epsom salts. This lotion seems to drive the magnesium into the tissues better and faster, and has a longer duration of action. 8oz for $5.98 is not much of a burden financially also.

My WalMart had this lotion already, in the first aid section.

I apply it only to the top of the feet and my arches and up the ankle a bit. Mostly my left foot seems to need it more.

I got some of the new Epson Lotion by Morton Salt at Walmart too. I think it absorbs quicker than the CVS version. I've only used it twice at night on my feet, so it's too soon for me to judge, but I did sleep through the night after applying it.

Wink

I think it is better too, Joano.

It might be that the CVS had thickened up on the shelf?
The Morton seems to work much faster. I've put it on my left surgical foot, and the pain stops within minutes now.

The ingredients are similar, but there is no capsaicin in it, like the CVS one had. And it is 1/2 the price! Can't beat that! Lots of relief for pennies a day!

I'm glad you like it too!

Yes, it's not as thick as the CVS lotion--that's probably why it absorbs so much quicker. It does take the burning away quickly. I hope I can continue to sleep through the night.

Thanks guys, I will definately try to find the lotion at walmart.

I am just wondering if this is a normal progression to something worse or if its simply a "change" in symptoms.

Oh, and no to the ms things.

Has anyone else had their symptoms change up like this? Not necessarily worse but different. I don't know if its worse but its very weird having different temps on the same toe.

Yup. I was going to say "this doesn't have to mean it's getting worse".

I found my symptoms changing frequently, which makes it so hard to get a grip on "what works". On top of that, you have days with break through pains that even ignore medication or overall improvement. Or a new symptom that doesn't seem to make sense.

At first I thought I was going slightly loopy, but since then I more or less learned not to panic - as that stress WILL make it worse for me.

For me it's a bit like a very bad symphony orchestra with different solo's and sometimes previously unknown (to me) instruments.

In my case, what didn't make sense was that it was both my big toes & my little toes that sometimes hurt a lot, while the middle toes seemed unaffected. It surely challenges the logical mind...

I haven't tried the "oil" magnesium. It is not really an oil...but very concentrated solution which gives a thick feeling to the water.

http://www.puritan.com/health-beauty...il-070885?np=1

Is it this? Doesn't look magnesium specific. I've never tried this...seems a bit pricey for me. I bought 3 bottles of the CVS lotion which I have 1 and 1/2 left. Now this Morton's took over the name and a similar formula, only better.

Our skin has a water non-miscible barrier to it...so that magnesium in water solution is going to be limited in absorption.
Some does get thru, but not as much as special creams/lotions which emulsify the magnesium in water into tiny globules and those pass thru the fatty layer of the dermis to go deeper.

The transdermal gels compounding pharmacies make are specially designed to penetrate deeply into the skin and deliver drugs better. Some people here use them for local pain relief.
You don't see people mixing their medicines in water and putting THAT on the skin...it just doesn't work the same.

So I have always had some reservations about water solutions applied to the skin for minerals. I guess it is a matter of how the product is prepared, which makes it more or less useful.

I was going to expore the magnesium "oils" after my CVS stuff was used up....but now the Morton product seems very good and has a very affordable price. One only needs to put a small amount (about a quarter's diameter) to spread a large area! So 8 oz will last quite a while!
