If you google "tylenol precise cream", you will see that there are coupons available for this product at CVS. I'm going to wait for more reviews as I have a cabinet full of topical stuff that hasn't worked for my burning feet. But I sure do hope it turns out to be helpful!

I don't expect much for numbness. But you can never tell.
If the numbness is because the nerves are "dead"... that will be it. But I have transient numbness in my hands (carpal tunnel) and feet, which comes and goes depending on compression issues. Too tight shoes =numbness gripping the steering wheel for long periods and my hands go numb. Some gloves will make my hands numb too. So for this transient type, perhaps this type is more "inflammatory" etc, and may respond to the Precise. I have more pain and burning than numbness overall. The Zonalon might work for numbness since it is a TCA. I'd try it if I were you, Echoes. I hope you have insurance as it is very expensive (over $100 for 1.5oz generic cash). I would think you'd know something by the end of one tube. BTW I was checking my WalMart receipt to make sure I got all my bags...you know that spinning gizmo that keeps some of your purchases sometimes????....anyway my Precise cream rang up at 6.97! (the shelf tag was 7.97 and so is the price tag). Don't know why.

I am putting the cream on my poor finger of the right hand which is giving me grief ...I'll show it to the doctor when I go this fall...but I think it is arthritis. (the middle knuckle is swelling a bit and the finger is very stiff some days, like today).
So Today is a good day, as I've had NO Aleve or Tylenol, and it is a small area to test as well. The oral meds might mask or confound any changes in the stiffness of that finger. First impressions.... This cream is very unlike Biofreeze. There is no cool sensation from the high menthol, and the cream really needs to be rubbed in for at least 2 minutes. It remains a bit greasy for about 15 minutes and then disappears. The cream is quite fluid... more like a thick lotion IMO. It dispenses out of a tiny little hole in the top of the tube. The tube has a flip top and a special blocking plastic barrel which seals off the opening completely. Looks pretty fancy to me in that regard. So there is no unscrewing a cap. There is a moderate odor of wintergreen, like Salonpas, but it is less than those patches. I can't really smell the menthol at all. A little seems to go a LONG way. I will do this finger for several days and report back. ![]()

(generic "Icy Hot" from Rite-Aid) My 'Cool Heat' becomes more fluid (runny) on hot summer days and in winter, is more of a cream consistency.

I used Precise on my right foot and knee last night.
My foot seemed better than the left and I fell asleep quickly. But there is no "cooling" sensation like with the Biofreeze. I've been having more pain than burning in my feet since coming home. All these stairs, I think. Today without the cream so far my finger is back to sore/stiff, and everything else seems the same. It might be that continued use results in longer improvements. Tonight I'll do both feet and see if that is better. But there is no real momentous results for me yet that I can report. Biofreeze seems more dramatic, at least for me.

Now some burning has started!
I have been using the Precise cream on my right side only, so I can compare to my left untreated side. My left foot has been very rough lately, so I started the cream on it....surprise....significant burning there! However, this morning it appears less swollen. It has been moderately swollen, on the instep for a while now, and I am not looking forward to a doctor visit for it. This is the area when I had surgery 50 yrs ago to remove a cavernous hemagioma tumor that bled all the time. Today with lasers, it would probably be a much less invasive surgery. At the time, the doctors told me emphatically, NOT to have surgery on it again EVER. Every time I've shown a doctor so far this huge scar and discussed it, I get a very BLANK look. Now I worry the tumor is growing back under the skin? It is interfering with many shoes I try to wear. I can't wear anything now that hits that scar, as it is very painful. If I try to wear walking sports shoes, they need a huge padded tongue and I can't lace the shoe over it. So today it appears the foot is less swollen. And it is still stinging some. I think the swelling is from disrupted lymphatic drainage since it is always better when I lie down, and it goes South if I am on it all day. The Precise is working best on my right hand with the very stiff finger. And it works some on my knee and right foot. So far I have mixed results with it. I don't know if it is going to help PNers. It appears to be a moderate intervention for arthritis type pain. With 10% menthol one would think it would work on nerves, but it doesn't seem as effective as Biofreeze is for me at all which is 3.5% menthol. I did sleep thru the night, last night with no waking. THAT is a definite improvement to note.

It decreases the numbness and restores some feeling to the soles of my feet. Plus, because the numbness is less, my balance is better as I can actually feel where I am putting my feet. I love love love it.
Sorry if I sound over the top but so far, of all the many creams and potions I've used, this is the best. I wish we could get samples of it so you'd be able to try it without investing big bucks. I found out that the retail price for this is over $120 and that my co pay of $30 is considered "reasonable." |
