I see a chiropractor every other week for what I'll call "routine maintenance". For me, my SFPN has caused my muscles and joints to be quite stiff and weak. It effects me head to toe. With the level of inactivity that comes with my condition, everything is just kind of stiff.
Going to the Chiropractor is a huge help. I also get a massage along with it, and even try to do that weekly. They might not be able to "fix" the problem, but they are able to do for me is to keep everything "moving", where I can no longer do that through my regular (limited) activity. I find it to really improve my quality of life and help relieve some of that stiffness. I'm sure I'm avoiding other problems/issues that might arise if I wasn't doing this (like circulatory issue). I think it's worth a try .... |

Did it change for 2011 from this year when you could have 24 chiropractor treatments? Just curious as I don't think so. How does medical necessity help as far as Medicare when seeing a chiropractor. Routine maintenance would seem to fall into that category. Again, I was under the impression it is only for 24 treatments per year. "Routine maintenance" or whatever you might call it. But perhaps it depends on which state you live in. Thanks.

This is is my fist post on this site, so I hope I am not bringing something up that has already been written about. I did look over the forums and have seen nothing about this. I am a 39 year old very fit male that has suffered with small fiber neuropathy for 15 years. Been through it all but I have been trying this new treatment where the DR injects my ankles with a substance and then puts me on a tens unit. So far it seems to be helping a lot. I have talked to 15 or 20 people that go there and they ALL have gotten results.
I am also an avid weightlifter and I have found that when I take a pre workout product that produces nitric Oxcide , I feel a 100 times better. I take it for a good muscle pump , but have noticed that it reduces the pain by 80%. If anyone is interested in knowing the treatment I am getting , please post a reply and I will find the link to explain it. I have to drive about 40 miles to the place and talk to people that drive well over two hours each time. Since I have been going I have seen advertisements for two other docs in the area performing it. I can tell you this..... they have a full time staff that does these injections 5 days a week ALL day. It must be working. O and IM not a rep for this procedure , just want to spread the word a bit. I am also using a TENS unit at home and have gotten great relief from that as well along with a conductive sock. Both for under $100.00 online. I use the ultima 20. Great little machine. Hope all is well:Eric |

Can you tell us what is being injected? I would like to know.
There is a study ongoing with hyaluronic acid injections into the ankle. Other things injected, long acting steroids or lidocaine. Most of the pre-workout products contain arginine (or citrulline) to improve NO in the blood vessels. Other aminos might be there too..like glutamine. I wonder if you are having a form of prolotherapy? This is when an irritating substance is injected into a joint, to stimulate healing. It is less common today because of negative consequences for some patients.
