meds? Don't do much for 'the pains'. They can loop out my brain functions so I don't care, but that pesky pain IS always there! I've been on Codeine, Morpheine etc. and not one of those has dulled the pn pain one whit! And, the latter two ultimately make me dreadfully constipated! Thank you? NO! I'll scream if needed or do without!!!
Only once, while under an anasthetic, did I find relief the day after some local exploratory surgery...... Can't remember the name? But the next day? All I knew was SOMETHING was missing! THE PAIN!!! It wore off after about 8 hours, but wow, those few hours were WONDERFUL... I do recall mentioning it to key docs, and looking up the whatever? But it appears to be VERY DANGEROUS stuff to use long term [DURN!].
Now I'm off most pain-killers, I've got lidocaine patches for really bad times, and tylenol or ultracet for the medium bad ones. I'm no longer taking the others as the long term s/e's for kidneys, liver, etc. are aspects I don't want to make worse [as I stress those organs enough w/IVIG for the CIDP].
That and Mrs D's help in guiding me to taking the better supplements for many of my med problems have helped me get by.
Good luck with your choices and make the wisest ones you can. Drugs come as a two-edged sword, they can help ONE thing, but maybe create other problems. BE informed? And? CAUTIOUS!

I am being weened off morphine for cervical fussion C3-7. I agree with this as my pain is better. However I do have pain. Does THC work? I have been asking questions, as if I try this, of course in a state that doesn't allow it, it is a risk. Is it worth the possible concequences? I have ATTD disorder as well in my ankles, have braces, and have at one time been confined to weelchair for it. I do not want to feel the pain from my ankles as I come off the morphine. somewhere I will meet my feet again....just wondering as a lot has to do with what quality of life I want. ginnie I lost 60 lbs to help my ankles, so this serious pain that moved me to do so.

I don't know why we can't grow the flowers. As a child my mother had them in her garden a lot of them Of course it was never told to me what other purposes they had. Mom just liked the big orange flowers. I don't think it is against the law.. ginnie

It is the poppies called somniferum , I believe only that are restricted.
My son has a huge stand of the orange ones, and those are allowed, they are papaver orientalis.

He has some information in it, about the poppies. They are illegal sort of. (can't buy the seeds for them etc). The book is very funny and enjoyable, if you garden, I'd recommend it highly.

The author says he grows them without any problem (and then adds "please don't report me") LOL

Everyone is always talking about having MJ for pain control.......and if there is SOME way of finding a loophole of an innocent nature, I'd SURE like to know how to come about some of these POPPY SEEDS for 'Tea' !!

What about poppy seed bagels, and poppy seed filling in pastries?
Are they a source of happy tea?

Poppy seeds from food, will score on urine tests for screening for opiates. I've always loved poppy seed things, muffins and bagels etc. :rolleyes::o

There is a poster on addiction here who scored positive from making the tea....and got in trouble with is pain physician.

I do recall some of my seed catalogs will not ship Papaver somniferum to certain states, etc.
And I would think doing any extraction on your own, would be hit or miss or hard to control the amount of what you desire from the plants.
So I can't really suggest that anyone try that.

Im in Thailand and visit Cambodia regularly. Pot is tolerated and served in dozens of happy pizza parlors. Opium is freely available as well. You have to keep in mind Cambodia is a relatively lawless society still. My understanding is opium is a fantastic pain reliever. highly addictive though, so the question remains are we better of living a life of hell in chronic pain and zombie pain killers or is the addiction to opium worth the pain relief? obviously this wouldn't work in the states but in the golden triangle (apart from Thailand) the police do absolutely nothing, This I can confirm :cool:
