Default Update...

Hello, it's been quite some time since I last posted. Just a little reminder, I started feeling my neuropathy in the very first days of November 2008. I was laying in bed, and started to feel a funny sensation going up and down the side of my left leg. Soon it spread to my right leg and I then had terrible burning from the knees down. In no time it spread all over my trunk which included my entire back, my stomach, my arms and hands. Later on I started to feel in in my feet. I was in agony, especially at night. I went for every test and tried a few meds for pain, but nothing gave me any substantial relief. It's then that I had to except that for me, this was my life now. The doctors could never find the cause.

A few months ago, my pain level started to drop down for longer periods of time. The burning around places like my back and stomach started to really die down. This was followed in other areas as well. I'll be honest, I had taken some supplements, but I wasn't very regular on it. As it stands today, November 2010, two years later, I am so much better then I was. Oh, I still have some pain which I have gotten used to and don't think about much. I also have my flares, which can be quite painful. My left side continues to be my worse, especially my left leg. The flares I noticed can come on because of hormonal changes, or over activity. The question has me stumped, what happened to me and why am I better now? Was I exposed to something? Did my body attack itself? I often lay in bed wondering.

I am extremely grateful for any pain relief I can get and I take nothing for granted. I can very easily slip back to where I was, or continue to heal. I just don't know so I take it one day at a time. I used to say there is always hope for change, and apparently for now, things have changed a little. I just wanted to also say how thankful I am to this forum. Everyone here is so kind and helpful and truly understands what it's like to deal with is dreaded condition. I just want to thank everyone for that....

In your case, will just say how glad I am for you that, although not gone, your burning has subsided significantly.

It's good to hear when something positive happends because it does hold out hope that the neuropathy can subside. You don't mention which supplements you've been taking.

Would you mind posting that?

Best wishes,

Sheltiemom

Your sympoms and sudden onset sound just like me. It started for me in August 2010, just 3 months ago. I can only hope that mine will heal like yours has. Thank you for your hopeful story.

I also thank you for your hopeful story, my symptoms are like yours and Roses, also sudden onset (over weeks.)All over body. It is so comforting just to talk to people who have these similarities, I am so tired of being looked at as a freak or as if I have a psycological problems. Even my closest friends have implied such things.

I would be interested to know what supplements you took, if you wouldn't mind.

Were you also on neuro. meds?

Thank you again for sharing your story of hope.

Thank you everyone for your replies. It's good to be back on the forum. The supplements I tried are mentioned in the stickys under the neurpathy can improve section. Again, I must be honest, I wasn't always good at taking them regularly. I also tried gabapentin, but it did not work. Everyone is so different when it comes to this, but I think the body is a remarkable machine and if improvement is possible, I believe your body will naturally go into this direction.

I think what helped me first was hope. No one convinced me that it was impossible to get better. I have had other illnesses that improved as well, so I wanted to always believe this about my neuropathy. Also, I never really thought about a time limit. I've come across people on the net that improved after days, weeks and even years.

Again, I have to make it clear that I am not totally well, but very much improved. I continue to have hope that I will get even better, but if I stay like this, I can deal with it. I just want to tell people to have hope. It's funny, I used to come to this forum and look for posts like this and I told myself if I ever improved even a little I would come here and post it.

Everyone here is so kind and understanding. I want to say a special shout out to posters like MrsD and glenntaj whose wisdom and knowledge has really helped me and so many others.

I plan to keep in touch and let everyone know my progress, and, as I mentioned before, I take nothing for granted. Thanks guys!
